About the Opportunity

Reporting to the WVU Alumni Association Director of Marketing and Communications, this individual will help support the marketing efforts of the West Virginia University Alumni Association through a variety of digital and traditional tactics. This individual should be a strong writer, editor, and have adequate skills across different marketing specializations, including web content development, email delivery, basic design, and more. This person should have the ability to adapt to marketing trends and learn additional skills, as needed. The position helps the Alumni Association reach goals of engagement, fundraising and membership and works within the Alumni Association and University Relations - Marketing teams.

What You'll Do:

  • Handles day-to-day development and management of communications and marketing plans as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications.
  • Develops and sends a variety of emails through mass communications service.
  • Manage projects from beginning to end and monitor progress based on set goals and deadlines.
  • Creates simple graphics for use on Alumni Association digital marketing efforts (e.g. emails, social media).
  • Conducts post-campaign analysis for all projects and campaigns; develop reports and best practices based on insights.
  • Assists at Alumni Association events and provides support, as needed, including those that involve travel.
  • Ensures brand consistency across all marketing activities (e.g. website, emails, social media, events, flyers, etc.) when executing communications and marketing plans.
  • Helps foster and build excellent partnerships between the Alumni Association and other internal partners from across the University.
  • Assists the Chapter and Interest Group Support Coordinator with chapter related branding and communications.
  • Occasional weekend and evening work.
  • Provides support as assigned to other engagement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of related experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong customer relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop written communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Experience in marketing goal development, tracking and analytics.
  • Experience to develop and execute multichannel communications and marketing plans.
  • Ability to clearly articulate (written and verbal) strategies and plans to achieve goals.
  • Ability to take photo and video.
  • Self-starter and can lead independently and proactively.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem-solving and high attention to detail.
