Multimedia Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Multimedia Specialist to join our team at West Virginia University. As a key member of our University Relations department, you will be responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing and communication strategies that showcase the university's academic, research, and outreach initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and produce high-quality visual content, including photography and video, to promote the university's brand and image.
• Collaborate with production, photographers, videographers, writers, designers, and marketers to advance the university's reputation and image.
• Lead visual projects for the university, including creating original images and video design work.
• Generate ideas and visual strategies for photographic and video images, and develop conceptual photographic and video imagery for various visual materials.
• Communicate with president, vice presidents, deans, directors, clients, designers, editors, and writers regarding their photographic, visual, media, and design ideas and the strategic vision and message the images communicate.
• Review images and edit photographs and videos for content, style, quality, etc.
• Utilize various visual media and multimedia tools, including computers, camera equipment, lighting, and software, to develop photographic, video, and multimedia materials.
• Research and make recommendations on the latest trends and technology in still photography, multimedia, social media, web, and mobile.
• Travel to various assignments on and off campus, and work evenings and weekends to cover and photograph and/or film media events, sporting events, receptions, commencement, performances, research, speakers, classrooms, campus scenes, etc.
• Offer training and mentorship to University Relations team members who are new to photography and multimedia.
• Work with, direct, and oversee student interns/workers utilized in photographic and video duties.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in photography, multimedia, communications, or a related field.
• One (1) year of experience in video/multimedia, creating multimedia, animations, and sound.
• Two (2) years of experience in photography, understanding of studio and location lighting, utilizing computer for photo development, communication and organization skills.
• Knowledge of still photography and photographic techniques, video, sound, animation, and multimedia, camera equipment, lenses, lighting, and audio equipment, computer software to edit photographic images, video, sound, and animation, HTML, JPEG, MP4, GIF, WAV, PDF, etc. formats, layout and design principles, WVU logo and brand identity, journalistic skills for content, interviews, and research, marketing and promotion.
• Demonstrated skills in digital photography and lighting, video, sound, animation, and multimedia, resolution and file conversion, excellent oral and written communications skills, excellent organizational skills, excellent customer service skills, excellent skill working with sensitive or secure issues, ability to work independently and manage time efficiently with little supervision, ability to assign, mentor, train, and oversee the work of others, including interns/student workers.
