We are seeking a skilled HPLC Agilent Lab Tech For CBD/Hemp Potency. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting sample testing using chromatography, spectroscopy, or spectrophotometry to analyze organic or inorganic compounds for their chemical or physical properties. The role also involves maintaining high standards in laboratory operations and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform sample testing to analyze organic or inorganic compounds using chromatography, spectroscopy, or spectrophotometry.
  • Demonstrate competency in various laboratory chemistry assays.
  • Prepare test solutions, reagents, and standards for analysis.
  • Enter and review data in the Laboratory Information Management System.
  • Conduct and document quality control tests.
  • Assist in calibrating laboratory instruments to ensure proper working order.
  • Clean reusable labware and tools.
  • Accession samples using analytical balances and various implements.
  • Utilize aseptic techniques for microbiological accessioning.
  • Ensure samples are homogenized and uniform during accessioning.
  • Evaluate samples for foreign material and take sample photographs.
  • Maintain productive relationships with local staff, corporate staff, customers, auditors, and regulatory staff.
  • Read and interpret reporting data.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures and good documentation practices.
  • Demonstrate competency in microbiology assays as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in chemistry, biology, or a related science.
  • Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience, with at least 2 years in cannabis or hemp testing.
  • Experience with potency testing and knowledge of cannabis and hemp lab testing protocols.
  • Familiarity with chromatography (HPLC, GC), spectroscopy (UV/VIS), and spectrophotometry techniques.
  • Proficiency with HPLC, specifically the Agilent 1220 Infinity II machine, and the ability to operate and maintain it.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of chemistry principles and laboratory techniques.
  • Proficiency in operating and calibrating laboratory equipment.
  • Excellent data entry and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good analytical and judgment skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to hazardous, toxic, or caustic chemicals.
  • Working with fumes or airborne particles from laboratory chemicals.
  • Working with or near moving mechanical parts and equipment.
  • Moderate noise level.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, walking, standing, talking, and hearing.
  • Using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Occasional stooping/bending.
  • Lifting up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Close vision and ability to focus on computer screens and documents; depth perception; color vision.
