What you will do
Amgen is currently seeking a talented Process Development Senior Scientist to join our Drug Substance Technologies - Synthetics (DSTS) group. Amgens DSTS group within Process Development (PD) is responsible for the invention, development, and implementation of drug substance manufacturing processes and technologies to advance Amgen's exciting portfolio of synthetic and hybrid assets. Process chemists within our team apply their synthetic training to invent synthetic routes and chemical processes to support drug substance manufacturing from early to late-stage development. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and team-oriented individual with a strong background in organic chemistry and/or biochemistry with a proven track record of scientific innovation and achievement.Key Responsibilities:
Invent synthetic routes and develop safe, robust, and cost-effective processes to manufacture synthetic and hybrid drug substancesAdvance enabling technologies to accelerate pharmaceutical development and to improve sustainability and process efficiencySupport cGMP manufacturing and technology transfer to our internal manufacturing facilities and external contract manufacturersEnsure process performance through process understanding, modeling and characterizationContribute to drug substance development teams by providing experimental results, technical updates, documentation, data interpretation, recommendations, etc.Work cross-functionally to deliver regulatory documents and support regulatory filingsServe as a technical expert and keep current in the field of organic and process chemistryWork effectively in a multi-disciplinary team of chemists, engineers and attribute scientistsWork independently in advancing projects and studies within required deadlines.WinWhat we expect of you

Doctorate degree in Chemistry completed by June 2025 ORMasters degree in Chemistry and 4 years of industry experience ORBachelors degree in Chemistry and 6 years of industry experiencePreferred Qualifications:PhD in organic chemistry with a specialization in total synthesis, reaction methodology, mechanistic studies, biocatalysis, peptide chemistry, oligonucleotide chemistry, conjugation chemistry and/or chemoinformatics/machine learningPost-doctoral experience in an academic laboratory or pharmaceutical/biotech industryTrack record of peer-reviewed publications and research presentationsDemonstrated ability to work within a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment to achieve resultsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to multitask, effectively plan and follow through on complex projectsA research summary included with CV is strongly encouragedThriveWhat you can expect of us

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
