The Clinic Medical Officer (CMO), at the VA West Texas Health Care System (VAWTHCS) is responsible for all clinical, administrative and educational aspects of the Primary Care operations at the assigned Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). The CMO has overall responsibility for planning, evaluation and management of PACT and PCP operations within the assigned CBOC in order to ensure fidelity to the PACT model, facilitate an environment of collaboration and effective care coordination for care delivered by the program and overall delivery of health care within the facility.
You will exercise direct supervisory responsibility for assigned PACT Physicians. Responsible for PACT program operations, associated program metrics (e.g., SAIL, VHA, VISN, etc.), and ensuring full compliance with applicable (e.g., Joint Commission) accreditation standards. You will be responsible for all professional practice issues relevant to assigned PACT Physicians including but not limited to development and implementation of FPPE/OPPE, proficiency criteria and ratings, pay for performance, peer review, etc.in coordination with Associate Chief of Staff of Primary Care (ACOS/PC). Develop, coordinate, implement and uphold procedures and policies to ensure efficient, effective care for eligible veterans. Assess, improve and enforce high standards of performance per VHA policy. Maintain a safe environment for staff and patients conducive to maintaining patient satisfaction, staff morale and equal employment opportunity. Promote teamwork, staff competency, efficient utilization of resources and communication within and outside the clinic. Establish and maintain a collegial relationship with other clinic staff. Assist ACOS/PC with developing and maintaining Service Agreements, as appropriate, to delineate those areas of responsibility that are jointly covered by staff at CBOC. You will work closely with the ACOS/PC and HRMS in recruitment and selection activities and with the Credentialing office on all actions associated with credentialing and privileging. Responsible for management of clinic and service level resources in a manner that enhances access to care. Effectively addresses and resolves stakeholder complaints/concerns, Congressional inquiries, grievances, EEO concerns, and other such issues via collaborative action with involved parties to include union partners as appropriate. Responsible for drafting and timely submission of HUMs, IBs and suspenses. Provide general mentorship and support the career development of Physician staff. Conduct regular, recurring PACT meetings and other formal committee meetings as appropriate. Other duties as assigned.

Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases


Paid Time Off:
