Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Product Manager for global product management of Ion, our innovative robotic technology for lung access. This role is pivotal in driving Ion’s entry and scale in key global markets.

As the Senior Product Manager, you will:

  • Execute high-impact projects to enhance the capabilities of future Ion platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with global customers and regional teams to capture the voice of the customer.
  • Ensure an optimal customer experience with new and existing products through effective collaboration.

Working across multiple product franchises and geographies, you will partner with cross-functional stakeholders in Product Operations and regional Commercial functions. Your unique role involves crafting a cohesive and compelling value proposition that spans multiple products and lifecycle stages—from launch to end-of-life.

Essential Job Duties

1. Downstream Global Product Management

  • Customer Insight & Solution Development: Understand the needs of external customers (clinicians, key opinion leaders, reprocessing teams, hospitals, payors) and internal stakeholders (Field Sales, Customer Support, Field Engineering, Services) to identify and develop in-market solutions and inform product development.
  • SIOP Process Leadership: Drive product management in the global Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process. Collaborate with regional teams, manufacturing, and operations to forecast SKUs and allocate products during launch ramps or supply constraints.
  • Quality Issue Management: Monitor and prioritize global product quality issues with regional teams and customers. Work cross-functionally to resolve product and critical customer issues, optimizing the customer experience with Intuitive and Ion products, services, and solutions.
  • Ecosystem Solution Implementation: Leverage and implement ecosystem solutions with existing customers, ensuring internal alignment on prioritization as part of the annual planning process.
  • Market Expansion Leadership: Head geographic market expansion projects through regulatory clearance and commercialization processes. Develop go-to-market plans in partnership with corporate and regional Marketing, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to ensure successful market entry of the Ion platform and its product portfolio.
  • Lifecycle Management: collaborate with regional teams to manage regional product lifecyles through pricing, launch and discontinuation.

2. Business Analysis

  • Forecasting & Financial Analysis: Conduct regional opportunity and product forecasting in collaboration with the finance team.
  • Product Improvement Opportunities: Identify opportunities for product enhancements by analyzing return data and complaint information.
  • Voice of Customer Integration: Incorporate customer feedback and field intelligence into product roadmap development.

3. Product Rollout & Launch

  • Global Representation & Advocacy: Represent regional teams and customers to propose global product feature updates and next-generation products aligned with customer needs and company goals.
    • Identify and articulate unmet customer needs.
    • Evaluate prototype product solutions.
    • Assess critical business requirements and potential product impact.
    • Increase awareness of underutilized in-market products and services.
  • Collaboration & Positioning: Work with regional teams to refine product positioning and establish claims, messaging, and pricing strategies.
  • Rollout Execution: Ensure smooth execution of product rollout processes within key regions.
  • Performance Measurement: Monitor product adoption globally and regionally, gathering post-launch feedback.
  • Partnership Development: Collaborate with in-region counterparts to develop and implement specific product launch and lifecycle activities.

4. Roadmap Development

  • Communication & Insights: Act as a conduit between global field and product management teams, providing real-time insights from customers and field-based teams.
  • Market & Clinical Expertise: Develop a deep understanding of lung cancer diagnosis and treatment, as well as future clinical areas, by:
    • Monitoring clinical literature.
    • Attending global medical society meetings.
    • Engaging with physician key opinion leaders.
  • Competitive Analysis: Understand competitive, emerging, and complementary technologies within regions and assess their impact on Intuitive’s endoluminal product lines.
  • Market Research: Conduct qualitative and quantitative market research, including direct customer interviews and observations, to inform the product roadmap.
  • Strategic Alignment: Participate in the product roadmap process, aligning with the company’s long-term objectives. Develop business justifications for recommendations and secure alignment across key stakeholders on project prioritization.
