The Role:

Moderna is seeking a Senior Research Associate in the Biomolecular Characterization team within Analytical Development. This role will support characterization of mRNA-based vaccines and therapeutics and associated critical starting materials via various analytical techniques including HPLC and mass spectrometry.

Heres What Youll Do:

Support product characterization of mRNA, DNA, and enzymes through method development, implementation and test execution to enable characterization of structure and impurities.

Work closely with other Technical Development teams to support critical starting material testing, process development, and analytical investigations

Support analytical subteams for early and late-stage programs to enable characterization content for regulatory filings

Support process development teams directly with method development and testing

Contribute to departmental project goals within the team and across the Technical Development dept.

Author and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) associated with MS test methods as needed

Support transfer of analytical test methods to other internal test labs as needed

Work independently with minimal supervision and direction

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:

BS or MS with 2+ years of relevant industry experience in analytical chemistry.

At least 2 years of demonstrated hands-on experience with liquid chromatography and/or mass spectrometry, preferably LC/MS and high-resolution mass spectrometry

Experience with biological sample handling is preferred

Organization and attention to detail; ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Strong interpersonal skills with an eagerness to work with and support colleagues in other departments

Ability to prioritize work, navigate through ambiguity, adapt to change and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Excellent communication skills
