  • Amentum is seeking a Demilitarization (Demil) Project Manager to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Demil Project Manager will be responsible for overall operation of a project/contract to include the safety and well-being of its employees, safeguarding company funds and property, and generally represents the company with respect to the customer.  Will serve as the focal point when multiple demilitarization teams are assigned to the same project to ensure of operational synergy and safety.   

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the focal point when multiple demilitarization teams are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.
  • Supervises the Field Supervisors assigned to the project.
  • Monitors and evaluate progress toward goals, including both operational and customer goals.
  • Improve operations efficiency.
  • Maintains the project calendar and schedule.
  • Managing project budget and preparing financial reports for senior management.
  • Preparing and maintaining project briefings, documents, and reports.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of the project.
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
  • Develop project spreadsheets, diagrams, and process maps to document needs.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate project management tools and techniques.
  • Report and escalate to management as needed.
  • Manage the relationship with all relevant project stakeholders.
  • Perform risk management to minimize potential risks.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.
  • Meet project budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis.
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant internal stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Ensure project resource availability and allocation.
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress.
  • Must possess thorough knowledge of the number of employees needed to accomplish work to ensure that areas are not overloaded beyond explosive limits set by the Safety Department.
  • Must possess a current and extensive knowledge of EPA and waste handling requirements and local regulations concerning environmental regulations and guidelines.
  • Provides general instructions, standard procedures, overall priorities, and policies, and ensures operations are safe and accomplishes an adequate quantity and quality of work.  Work is reviewed for efficient and economical accomplishment within priorities and controls received.
  • Follows all pertinent contractual, local, state, and federal compliance documents and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in a technical discipline, management or related field required. (An equivalent combination of formal college/university education and directly related job experience may be considered.) or minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in Military or (7) years Munitions and Logistics and/ or Demil Depot Operations.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada driver’s license. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance well as a clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
  • Must satisfactorily complete the Training and Certification Program for Personnel Working Ammunition Operations required by AMC Regulation 350-4 within 90 days of hire.
  • Must be able to communicate in an effective and professional manner, in English, using all std. forms of business communication. Must possess sufficient computer hardware and software proficiency to be able to perform all job duties in a timely, professional and effective manner.
  • Able to obtain & maintain all certificates as required by Amentum’s Master Training Plan.
  • Government contracting experience.
  • Strong time and project management skills, project prioritization, and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong collaboration, team building, and leadership skills; ability to provide clear objectives, motivate, establish metrics/goals and monitor progress.
  • Comfortable in high-pressure environments
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with colleagues.

Safety Sensitive

This position is designated as a safety sensitive position and is subject to the requirements of the HWAD Medical Surveillance Plan and Matrix and the HWAD A&D Program.  As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, drug testing, medical exam and respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by 29 CFR and Army Regulations: AR 190-11, AR 190-13 and DOD Contractors Safety Manual 4145.26.
