Job Summary The New Roots program is a multifaceted food security and agriculture program that supports refugee and immigrant integration through urban farming, gardening, food access and education. The New Roots Food Access Coordinator focuses on supporting the programâs food access and marketing initiatives including the Food Systems Orientation and Nutrition Education Program, Double Up Food Bucks Program, Farmers Market Nutrition Program, and the New Roots CSA and Farm Stand at Camel Backyard Community Food Hub. This position reports to the New Roots Program Manager in the Phoenix office.
Major Responsibilities: Food Systems Orientation and Nutrition Education Program⢠Responsible for implementing the Food Systems Orientation and Nutrition Education program including adapting curriculum to participantâs needs, outreach, recruitment of eligible participants, surveys, and data collection.⢠Facilitate weekly food systems orientation for new arrivals as part of Cultural Orientation.⢠Coordinate interactive Navigating a New Food System classes with participants. â¢ Maintain emergency food resources and community food resources data base. 
Marketing and Technical Assistance â¢ Manage the New Roots Farm Stand including produce aggregation from New Roots growers, Double Up Food Bucks Program implementation, Farmers Market Nutrition Program implementation, and data collection for each market.⢠Coordinate with New Roots Community Development Coordinator to manage the New Roots CSA produce box program including aggregation of produce, technical assistance to participating farmers, data collection, and customer distribution. â¢ Work with New Roots farmers to connect to existing market outlets including farmers markets, wholesale, and retail outlets to expand their farm businesses.⢠Collaborate with New Roots team to develop and oversee implementation of training materials on marketing and business development topics including crop and market planning, market types, record keeping, quality control, packaging, and food safety through regular workshops and one-on-one training and technical assistance.⢠Coordinate with New Roots partners to provide additional trainings and resources in nutrition education, food safety, business development and marketing.
Program Monitoring⢠Track relevant program data for all New Roots participants including marketing plans, CSA data and farmer sales.⢠Conduct New Roots participant surveys and analyze trends.⢠Keep accurate case files and participant records for New Roots participants, monitor and record skill acquisition.⢠Coordinate with New Roots Program Manager to collect and maintain relevant data for New Roots grants and donor deliverables; contribute to grant writing and reporting requirements.
Community Relations and Resource Development⢠Develop and maintain strong community partnerships including Pinnacle Prevention, Maricopa County Public Health Department, University of Arizona Cooperative Extension, and Local First Arizona.⢠Represent New Roots in the larger community through attending outreach events and by organizing events and demonstrations.⢠Work with New Roots Program Manager in fundraising, development activities, and resource acquisition of in-kind and monetary donations.
Additional Responsibilities⢠Support New Roots team through collaboration and participation in various New Roots PHX events and projects including seasonal markets, produce deliveries and urban farm and community gardening activities.⢠Comply with all IRC policies, procedures and protocols including adherence to the IRC Way and Child Safeguarding. â¢ Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: Education: â¢ Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience in nutrition, public health, marketing, community development, food systems or related field. 
Work Experience: â¢ Minimum of three years of related work experience in program implementation. Diversified vegetable and sustainable/organic experience preferred. 
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:⢠Demonstrated experience with community organizing and engagement, food justice and equity, food systems, agriculture or health/nutrition preferred.⢠Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, manage time effectively and able to work independently.⢠Fluency in written and spoken English, with bilingual ability preferred. â¢ Ability to communicate with limited-English speakers and demonstrated multicultural experience. â¢ Computer proficiency with an emphasis on Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook). Proven experience in web-based data entry systems preferred.
Certificates or Licenses:⢠Must have a valid driverâs license, active insurance policy, and access to reliable transportation.⢠In accordance with Arizona State Law, must possess or be eligible to receive a fingerprint clearance card.
Working Environment:  Standard office work environment combined with travel throughout service delivery area. Flexible to work Saturdays and some weekday evenings throughout the CSA season, as needed. Ability to safely lift 35 lbs. 
Compensation:Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.

All US employees are eligible for sick time, a 403b retirement savings plans: up to 4.5% immediately vested matching contribution, plus an 3-7% additional IRC contribution, and an Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support in times of crisis and mental health struggles.
In addition, full-time employees are eligible for 10 US paid holidays, 20-25 paid time off days, disability & life insurance, medical, dental, and vision insurance (employee contribution starting at $135, $7, and $5 per month respectively) and FSA for healthcare, childcare, and commuter costs.
