Description
The Accounting Manager is responsible to oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting and reporting operations, to include accounts payable. All daily, weekly, and monthly internal reporting deliverables for American President Lines, LLC are managed by this role. The manager is responsible for internal and external audit requirements and deliverables.
Accountabilities
- Ensure proper accounting and reporting for balance sheet and P&L activities
- Meet close deadlines, review results and record JEs prior to closing.
- Perform day-to-day operations of accounting and financial reporting to include journal entry prep and analysis, P&L review and analytics, and process improvements. Assist F&A team with proper accounting and reporting; ensure processes, procedures, and policies are known and followed. Ensure policies and procedures are kept current.
- Responsible for financial analysis to include analyzing results to ensure revenue recognition, accounting for expenditure cycle, and evaluation of accruals and other account valuations are recorded properly.
- Team with appropriate parts of the organization to understand and evaluate requirements, including the implementation of any required process changes.
- PO review and approval; assist with PO coding
- Oversee and manage processes performed by the shared service centers and local AP Finance team.
- Liaise with US Tax Team to ensure accurate recording and reporting of all federal, state, and local tax requirements.
- Other analysis and projects as defined by CFO
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting and reporting operations and analysis – required; CPA plus.
- Minimum 2 years supervisory experience required.
- Previous SAP experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of accounting standards, segregation of duties and internals control standards.
- Proven customer service skills are required to create, maintain, and enhance customer relationships - Must be able to communicate and interact effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds.
- Capable of being a “change agent” able to see the big picture and sort through information to effectively prioritize and produce the required level of customer satisfaction.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines in fast-paced ever-changing environment.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential material with a level of professionalism and integrity
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and people to successful outcomes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications.
- Detail oriented with proven ability to get things done accurately, efficiently, and timely, mostly within tight deadlines.
- English fluency required.
