About the Opportunity
These are two open positions with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.
These positions report to the Director, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) and Chief Diversity Officer, and can be located in OH, PA, WV, MD or NJ with travel to Akron, OH and other FirstEnergy regional locations as needed.
The selected candidates are responsible for various business-related activities supporting the DEI area of Human Resources and advancing FirstEnergy's DEI core value. Successful candidates will develop, implement and measure companywide initiatives that build, promote and cultivate an open, diverse and inclusive culture at FirstEnergy. In addition, successful candidates will focus on inclusion outreach to employees and the development of various reports demonstrating and advancing our DEI work across the company and in the communities we serve.
The successful candidates will work closely with and support key DEI and culture stakeholders, including the DEI Council, DEI Working Group, Employee Business Resource Groups (EBRGs), HR Leadership, State HR, HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and business leaders to ensure initiatives, resources, training and tools are effectively leveraged to ensure an inclusive and diverse work culture and drive business results. You will also partner with the Corporate Affairs & Community Involvement, External Affairs, Communications departments and involve FirstEnergy employees and leaders in external outreach efforts.
Responsibilities include:
- Partnering with HR Business Partners, State HR Managers, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development (L&D) to drive the implementation of the DEI strategy in line with ongoing business objectives, talent processes and initiatives.
- Benchmarking best practices regularly and staying current on emerging DEI issues and trends; gathering and analyzing organizational metrics to identify opportunities for strengthening our DEI core value across the enterprise and foster cultural change.
- Facilitating employee surveys (engagement, lifecycle, pulse) and analysis of results; identifying trends and making recommendations to maintain and support employee engagement and an inclusive culture.
- Responding to external DEI surveys on behalf of FirstEnergy to support our benchmarking efforts.
- Developing and maintaining key DEI metrics, scorecards and reporting to support measurement of programs and progress.
- Working with the Communications team on internal and external articles related to DEI.
- Providing supporting work for DEI initiatives.
- Supporting and updating the DEI SharePoint site.
- Supporting storm recovery actions, as necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related discipline and minimum 4 years relevant professional experience is required. In lieu of Bachelor's degree (preferred), minimum 7 years relevant professional experience required. Relevant professional experience includes management of key projects, data analytics (interpreting results, developing meaningful insights and recommendations), and supporting belonging, inclusion, equity and diversity initiatives in a corporate environment.
- Proven track record in prioritizing and managing multiple streams of work in a fast-paced environment; demonstrated strong project/program management and ability to meet key deadlines and project milestones
- Experience leading large-scale team-based projects and working through others to achieve results
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required in one-on-one settings or in front of large groups
- Possess strong relationship building, networking and influencing skills; ability to interact effectively with all levels
- Demonstrated analytical capabilities with the ability to translate data into key insights
- Developing instructional materials, including lesson plans, student materials, visuals, etc., as well as coordinating training facilities and equipment, managing training reports and attendance records, tracking measurement functions and surveys, and forecasting and trending participation
- Contributing to enterprise projects focused on employee or leadership development
- Ability to travel, as required
- Ability to work outside normal work hours
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
