Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Marketing Communications teams design, execute and report on internal and external communications and PR activities, engaging with customers, outside agencies and industry organizations. They define the messages and oversee the implementation of initiatives that engage key audiences using a variety of approaches, including internal communications, media, public relations and social media, developing ideas and stories to execute internal and external communications.  They leverage a trend or storyline emerging from multiple inputs, e.g., team meetings, reports, social and traditional media, politics and current events, to elevate TE’s brand in the market and partner with marketing colleagues to ensure campaigns, lead generation and market-facing communications complement one another to drive marketing results and manages the relationship with TE’s public relations agency of record and assigned budget. The Communications team collaborates closely with various stakeholders from executive leadership team and Human Resources to a variety of product, sales and internal marketing partners.

ABOUT the ROLE

This job will be responsible for leading the company’s strategic external communications activities, including media relations, reputation management, crisis communications and content development.

The Communications Director is a key leadership role in the company’s Brand & External Communications Center of Excellence. To be successful, you must have proven success leading communications within a complex company structure that demands a highly collaborative approach, be able to operate globally, influence and spark change/progress, work well in matrixed organizations, and be ready to drive a strategic vision for the future. 

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Increase executive and brand visibility through:

o    Public and media relations
o    Owned content
o    Thought leadership 
o    Social media

  • Develop consistent messaging and innovative communication programs which reinforce TE’s strategy and are aligned with major company themes, such as:

o    Industrial technology leadership
o    Innovation and engineering expertise
o    Mega trends, including next-generation transportation, renewable energy and the Internet of Things (IoT)

  • Provide senior leadership with strategic communications counsel and serve as a trusted advisor on issues related to external messaging and reputation management.
  • Partner with Investor Relations and executive team to support financial communications during quarterly earnings and other public company reporting events.
  • Serve as a “corporate journalist,” cultivating sources across geographies, functions and businesses to drive the creation of compelling content that builds the TE brand.
  • Develop earned media strategy, maintain press relationships and manage a global team responsible for media relations and media training.
  • Manage global PR agency and other vendor relationships.
  • Manage crisis communications, including proactive and reactive messaging; serve as company spokesperson.
  • Partner and collaborate with communications and marketing colleagues across functions and business units. 
PROFILE
  • 10+ years of corporate communications experience in a best-in-class global environment, preferably in the technology industry. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a complex B2B environment.
  • Global management of communications programs.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to lead and motivate global teams.
  •  Results-oriented with a track record of driving corporate communications initiatives that have measurable business impact.
  •  Experience with C-level communications.
  •  Experience managing communications/PR agencies and other vendor relationships.
  • Impeccable writing, editing and storytelling skills. Digital and social content creation preferred.
  • Full understanding of paid, owned and earned media channels.
  • Comfort and professionalism in interacting with top-tier media.
  • Track record of presenting insights to executives and peers. Comfortable with public speaking and facilitating large group sessions. Clear communicator with ability to simplify and effectively communicate complex concepts.
  • Excellent collaboration skills working with internal and external stakeholders and across both business and technical teams.
  • High degree of personal integrity; culturally sensitive & empathetic. 
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: 159,920 USD– 239,880 USD (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
