Morristown, United States Zelis NA Full time
Opportunity:

Zelis seeks to recruit a Senior Manager to work in one of the most high-growth areas of our company: Provider. The Provider business was recently elevated to a General Manager structure as a result of the consistently strong results it has achieved, and the highly strategic role it plays in our go-forward growth plans. The GM, Provider Network is responsible for maximizing the growth and retention of the provider network while overseeing the refinement and enhancement of provider economics and managing the operating model across all of the stakeholders in the business. The Senior Manager will be tasked with independently leading high-profile initiatives which may include: analyzing and recommending price changes, creating retention and conversion playbooks, testing and scaling new go-to-market strategies, improving the provider service model, and proposing enhancements to the Provider Value Proposition.

This is a high-growth part of our business that is receiving more investment, attention, and interest than ever before. As a result, the Senior Manager will also play a role in up-leveling key analytics, metrics, and results to a senior audience, including the C-Suite and Board of Directors.

Role Overview:

The Senior Manager, Provider Network will report to the General Manager, Provider Network. We seek a candidate who is passionate about impact, value-creation, and brings the strategic and analytical skills to deliver change. It is essential that this emerging executive also bring vision, leadership skills, and ability to collaboratively influence teams and organizations at all levels. This person will thrive if they bring an analytical and action-oriented approach, with an eye towards the big-picture and an ability to up-level complex concepts.

Overall, the Senior Manager, Provider Network objectives include:
  • Own the design and execution of substantial initiatives within our Provider growth strategy, which may include:
    • Pricing guardrails and recommendations for sales teams
    • Formalizing retention and conversion playbooks
    • Working with Product, Sales, and Partnerships teams to enhance the value prop
    • Leading market research efforts to assess gaps from current state to goal state
  • Support the development of a new operating model with the many cross-departmental teams who work on Provider as we formalize the GM model. Along with the GM, unite these groups towards a common goal and direction, creating a shared sense of accountability, key objectives, and KPIs
  • Drive communications of the strategy internally (e.g., create materials for and present in senior leadership team meetings) and externally (e.g., for Board of Directors meetings). Package strategic story in compelling, crisp, and clear way for these internal and external audiences
  • Be a leader who helps set the culture and tone for this newly forming team
  • Be proactive in escalating and resolving potential issues by calling them to the attention of the GM and identifying potential solutions. Continually challenge and ask whether our initiatives match our strategy

Experience

The ideal candidate is a strategic and analytical problem solver with a "hands-on" orientation who understands what it takes to drive real operating change, can create a sense of urgency, and effectively influence others. The candidate must have the drive and ability to help develop strategic, analytical, and financial frameworks, to identify practical and meaningful business improvement opportunities, and to define and implement solutions. Key to his/her success will be the ability to manage complexity and ambiguity and transform into action across functional groups, driving value-creation. Consulting background or operator background with similar exposure to problem solving is ideal.

Capabilities

Analytical Skills

Ability to identify and define business questions and issues, and develop strategic, data-driven, and financial frameworks to conduct analysis but also surface quickly to the "so what" of that analysis.

Problem Solving

Problem solver with the intellectual curiosity to go deep on the complex and nuanced Provider network. Confident, highly-motivated, and able to make recommendations/decisions quickly, sometimes with imperfect information.

Influencing and Partnering Skills

Strong communication and presentation skills. Strong leadership and influencing skills with the ability to gain the trust and respect of peers and stakeholders in other departments. Address potential challenge or conflict in a positive and proactive way. Ability to understand the subtleties and complexities of pushing an agenda in highly performing organizations.

Results Focus

A self-starter who makes things happen and does not always wait for instructions. Able to develop clear goals and plans and deliver against them. Well-organized with a finisher mentality, able to juggle multiple tasks and ensure that there are no 'dropped balls'. Goes beyond expectations by thinking proactively and delivering more than has been agreed.

Strategic Acumen

Ability to see the bigger picture, identifying opportunities to add value beyond immediate requirements. Ability to grasp a wide range of different business situations quickly.

Desired Background / Education:
  • 6+ years of work experience
  • Operating or consulting experience in healthcare technology is a plus, but not required
  • MBA or equivalent degree a plus, but not required
  • Strong analytical skills essential
  • Tenacious, resilient, and results-oriented approach
  • Creative problem solver who takes initiative and ownership
