Global Investment Strategy (GIS) is a unit of the Chief Investment Office (CIO) organization that is responsible for the management of the $400 billion General Account, which includes the domestic and international insurance investment portfolios of Prudential Financial Inc and affiliates. The GIS team is responsible for relative value assessment, new investment opportunities, cross portfolio strategy, active portfolio risk management, ALM strategy and analytics as well as environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategies for the insurance portfolios.

We are seeking a Vice President to join our Investment Strategy team. In this role you will provide critical, hands-on support in the research, development, and implementation of the General Account's investment strategies. This individual will work closely with General Account portfolio managers, internal asset managers, and risk management to implement new investment strategies within enterprise risk appetite and external regulatory constraints across multiple jurisdictions.

The current EWA for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.

What you can expect:
  • Participate in the development and implementation of General Account investment strategies including idea generation across a broad range of public and private asset classes.
  • Lead engagements with asset managers on new opportunities and provide insurance investment expertise to optimize investments for insurance balance sheets.
  • Manage and support cross portfolio initiatives such as analyzing new asset classes, understanding capital frameworks and their impact on investment initiatives, and optimizing new strategies under enterprise risk limits.
  • Support active portfolio credit risk management process including risk positioning, identification and escalation of risk issues, and benchmarking of asset managers.
  • Coordinate and partner with other groups within CIO (e.g., US portfolio management, international portfolio management) and corporate functions (e.g., Enterprise Risk Management, Corporate Actuarial, Treasurer's Department, External Affairs and Finance) in understanding and addressing portfolio issues.
  • Engage in broad credit portfolio surveillance across multiple fixed income asset classes.
  • Contribute to strategic portfolio outlook and positioning through regular relative value and risk assessment discussion.


What you'll need:
  • 7-10 years of investment and/or risk management experience is required
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Deep capital markets knowledge with experience in a variety of asset classes including corporate bonds, securitized products, and mortgage loans
  • Strong communicator, coordinator and thought partner; comfortable and effective partnering with senior level executive team
  • Excellent project management skills


It'd be a plus if you had:
  • A CFA designation and/or MBA
  • Previous experience in investments, credit analysis or fixed income
  • Knowledge of insurance capital frameworks

The salary range for this role is from $175,000 to $200,000. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
