This position serves as a Contract Specialist and is responsible for procurement of the most briefly complex supplies, services, telecommunications equipment procurement and oil spill clean-up services. The majority of the acquisitions will be sealed bid but negotiated procurements will be frequent. A variety of the contract types will be employed. Many of these acquisitions will involve dealing with other departments and agencies. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.  Typical work assignments include:

Reviewing complex requests for procurement.
Reviewing documentation such as justification for other than full and open competition and prepares appropriate supplemental.
Soliciting bids/proposals/quotes for prospective contractors. 
Preparing the solicitation document. Performing cost/price analysis, including review of complete cost and pricing to determine reasonableness.
Serving as an advisor where the complexity and scope of contract activities requires the use of one or more subordinate specialist.
