Summary

The VP of Category Management is responsible for developing a best-in-class Category Management Team to achieve a competitive advantage, customer success and margin growth and is accountable for converting insights into winning ideas with Customers through the creation of compelling Category Stories to influence how Customers manage the Protein Categories. This role leads the development of team vision, strategies and goals which will drive the development of unique and credible insights that will enable successful execution of our business objectives across key Customers. The VP is accountable for the development and execution of Category Platforms with our retail Customers. The role communicates key market learnings from the customer back to Perdue to drive future strategy and platform work. This role directly manages a team organized by Category and Channel and collaborates with Sales Planning to deliver category platforms consistent with AOP/Annual Business Planning timelines.


The role serves on the Commercial Strategy and Business Planning Leadership Team responsible for crafting the vision, plan, and ways of working to deliver against business goals, while establishing a winning culture where each associate can be their best.

Category Strategy - Develop and drive the Category Strategy of a dynamic and diverse category. Manage the translation of Poultry Vision to customer-specific initiatives through a shopper-first lens. This includes the development, communication, and measurement of Perfect Store standards at retail to increase conversion at shelf.Category Management - With a focus on creating the Perfect Store, own the process to identify assortment must-haves and prioritization for the Poultry category. You will manage the communication, enablement, and measurement of those recommendations, and collaborate closely with your counterparts within the sales teams to deliver optimal category results.Driving Engagement & Partnership - Through your strong partnership with peers and customers (Sales Planning, S&OP, Innovation, Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Growth Management), you will establish the disciplines to provide the right pack in the right place for the right price. Provide understanding of category, channel, and shopper insights to sales teams through syndicated & internal data and how that aligns with retailers strategy & business goals.Actionable insights Lead the development of critical insights and analytics to drive customer s poultry category, while effectively capturing a disproportionate share of growth. Opportunity identification: Regular in-market work to evaluate effectiveness of plan implementation as well as in identifying retail volume/profit opportunities.Talent development: develop a high performing, diverse team through coaching and modeling Perdue Leadership BehaviorsMinimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred, with at least 15+ years of experience in category management or a related field, with a strong preference for experience in CPG, preferably with food and beverage experience.

The ideal candidate must also have:

Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment, demonstrating strategic thinking and an ability to drive initiatives forward.Strong analytical skills, with a record of accomplishment of using data to inform decisions and drive results.Demonstrated experience building and developing the process, tools and technologies that support category management and insights.Excellent communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels and contributing constructively to strategic discussions.Broad understanding of marketing strategies, customer development, supply chain implications, and financial literacy.Demonstrated capability to navigate complex organizational structures, translating strategic objectives into operational execution.Extensive experience in understanding consumer needs and retail environments.Proficiency in analyzing syndicated and panel data, and in developing executive-level presentations and reports.Adept at Storytelling with Data.Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. May need to access files, supplies and equipment. Work activity is in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment.
