Responsibilities

The HIS Specialist carries out specific duties required to fulfill health information services functions. Completes data abstraction for regulatory agencies, executive reporting, and billing services.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Abstracting and entering HBIPS data on recent inpatient discharges
  • Abstracting data for Vericle Billing and other projects as designated
  • Auditing patient charts for quality improvement and regulatory projects
  • Provides general administrative support to health information including:
  • Processing after-discharge requests for information
  • Pulling and filing medical records
  • Scanning inactive medical records for all PrairieCare's sites, and covering as needed in the other PrairieCare sites
  • Provides general administrative support to the HIS Supervisor and department as needed
Qualifications
  • This position requires a minium of a 2 year degree
  • Minimum of 2 years of health information services experience and/or a Registered Health Information Technician designation
  • Demonstrates proficiency and ability to actively improve processes that relate to patient care support
  • Proficient technical skills using a variety of HIS specific and non-specific hardware and software applications, including EHRs, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Word, and Vericle Billing.
