Who we're looking for

Toyota's Labor & Employment Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Labor & Employment Paralegal.

Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, the person in this role will support a team responsible for handling employment-related cases, as well as other matters assigned to the Legal team.

What you'll be doing

Responding to employment-related subpoenas across the USResearch and gather documents and electronic information needed by internal attorneys and outside counsel for response to employment-related arbitrations and lawsuitsReview and edit discovery responses and coordinate witnesses to testify on behalf of the company at depositions, hearings, and trialsResearch legal topics as assigned by supervising counsel to support various business projects and policy changesTrack and calendar important deadlinesIssue, maintain, and administer the Litigation Hold process- Create and maintain records related to litigation holds, document preservation memos, and reminder memosSupervise the collection and storage of materials gathered in connection with litigation holdsAd hoc data management and factual research, including case trend analysisManage case-related database (NetDocs/TeamConnect)Draft and update standardized workMonitor laws regulating workplace training and work with The Learning Center on the implementation of courses(s)Budget and backup administrative support (e.g. assistance with billing issues, settlement process, etc.)Miscellaneous projects as assigned (e.g., business continuity plan updates, adverse impact review, department initiatives)Function effectively as part of a team, including maintaining effective and efficient communication among team membersCommunicate effectively with other affiliates
What you bring

Bachelor's degreeParalegal experience in a corporate law department or law firmStrong legal research, writing, and analytical skillsStrong computer skills: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPointExperience with online legal research toolsExceptional organizational skillsExceptional attention to detailSelf-starter: ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and address continually changing priorities; excellent follow-up skillsStrong track record of managing confidential information
Added bonus if you have

Paralegal certificate from an accredited programStrong knowledge of Outlook and familiarity with legal case-related databases ( HighQ / TeamConnect)Ability to maintain confidential informationWorking knowledge of Westlaw or Lexis/NexisExperience supporting an employment law practice is strongly preferred
