Reporting to the Administrative Director of Solid Organ Transplant and in collaboration with the Medical Directors, the supervisor has first-line responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Transplant Financial Coordinator staff. Additional responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, terminating, scheduling, performance evaluations, quality reviews, timecard reconciliation, staff education, coaching, development, support and promotion of customer relations and monitoring of activities to ensure performance standards are achieved. Serves as the Systems Administrator for the Transplant Clinical database for all Solid Organ Transplant Programs.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital’s policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.
Assists Business Manager in maintaining and updating Medicare cost report data. Ensures accuracy of Medicare 2728 forms and their timely completion.
Coordinates and facilitates the development and delivery of training to staff. Develops, implements and manages cross training across job functions to ensure adequate daily staffing and coverage. Revises, develops and implements departmental procedures; communicates necessary changes to affected staff and departments.
Directs and supervises the daily activities and workflows of staff to ensure that work areas are staffed appropriately, breaks are taken and overtime is utilized appropriately.
Ensures the insurance for patient accounts has been verified, authorizations for procedures/admissions are obtained in a timely manner and payer notification is performed in an efficient and courteous manner.
Interfaces with key payor representatives, including Case Managers and Medical Directors, to discuss protocol appropriateness and educates insurance company representatives regarding the necessity for care. Discusses complex, clinical information regarding the patient's candidacy and course of treatment. Acts as the liaison to Patient Financial Services hospital and professional, contracting, physicians, third party payors, case management and patients and families.
Oversees development of training and other job aides to ensure quality data entry and job performance. Teaches staff how their job functions impact bad debt expense-uncompensated care, cash flow, and accounts receivable as well as customer loyalty, market share and the overall financial health of Stanford Hospital and Clinics.
Performs supervisory functions for the assigned program, section or unit by interviewing and recommending the hiring of new staff members; providing or arranging for training for subordinates; evaluating subordinates' performance; and recommending personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, or disciplinary action to ensure adequate and competent staffing.
Plans and schedules team-building events and rewards to enhance the work environment and celebrate the achievement of accomplishments and goals Coordinates appropriate transplant financial coordinator activities including data collection and management, financial screening, cost estimates and collection of patient liability.
Provides/coordinates staff in-services and departmental policy/procedure changes, contract changes, third party regulation changes and other identified educational/training needs.
Regularly participates in third party payor's site visits to Stanford Hospital and Clinics. Develops and maintains professional relationships with insurance carrier's utilization review managers in order to complete authorizations in a timely manner. Oversees and monitors third party payor reimbursement denials in order to identify and correct potential transplant departmental practice problems both prospectively and retrospectively. Monitors and identifies changes in regulations and legislation with regard to third party reimbursement for transplantation and general surgical procedures as it impacts operations.
Represents Stanford Transplant at industry conferences and symposiums. On behalf of the Administrative Director, serves as a resource for the medical directors, nurse coordinators, social workers and patient care coordinators in the Division of Multi-organ Transplant.
Schedules staff and assigns daily tasks. Performs Quality Reviews and provides constructive feedback to staff. Performs evaluation and analysis of the department's workflow and staffing; recommends/implements corrective action.
Works with TransChart Project Team to provide support to the transplant nurses, physicians and staff in the management, accountability, functionality, and security of the TransChart Clinical Database. Provides ongoing training and analysis of current needs and future resource requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.

Pay Range
Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.
Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.
Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $75,649.60 to $100,297.60
