About the Job
Position Overview
The School of Architecture has periodic openings for Adjunct Faculty to teach lectures or seminars, design-based courses, and studios or workshops. Courses vary from 3 credit half semester workshops to 6 credit full semester studio courses. In-classroom hours vary from 3 hours per week for a 3-credit lecture, to 12 hours per week for a 6-credit studio.
Instruction in the School of Architecture is carried out each year by full-time tenured and tenure track faculty members. However, as a professional and accredited program and professionally based discipline, we also rely heavily on part-time faculty who are often full-time practitioners and have a proven history of providing quality instruction for one or more courses in their area of expertise per year. Currently, Adjunct faculty are hired to teach approximately one-third of the architecture and design courses offered annually in the school.
Applications are reviewed as openings occur, and individual applicants are invited to interview when their skills or areas of expertise match a need or opening. This posting is designed to establish a pool of instructors across degree programs. Applications will be reviewed when openings occur throughout the academic year/summer.
We are committed to attracting candidates from historically underrepresented groups and varied educational backgrounds knowing that diversity enriches the academic experience and provides a knowledge base for innovation.
