Director - Climate, Energy and Sustainability

Full-time professional position at US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, Inc.’s headquarters located at 2550 M Street NW, Washington DC 20037, with travel/relocation to unanticipated project sites within the US expected. 

Duties:

  • Build strategic and operational plans to scope, define and advance USISPF’s practice on sustainability, energy and climate.
  • Engage Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Niti Aayog, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India and the US Department of Energy, the Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR) – US Department of State, USAID and USTDA, the U.S. Government; multilaterals, think tanks & other trade bodies on topics related to climate, energy and sustainability.
  • Progress USISPF’s and its members’ work in several U.S. India bilateral programs and initiatives such as the US India Gas Task Force, Flexible Resources Initiative, Industry Advisory
  • Council for Greening the Grid program, US India Hydrogen Task Force, South Asia Women in Energy (SAWIE), CEO Water Alliance (CEWA).
  • Drive, shape and provide direction and thought leadership in the climate area for and with USISPF members and partner stakeholders in the U.S. and India.
  • Grow USISPF’s membership in climate, energy and sustainability across the United States by identifying companies working in the areas of sustainability, energy and climate and help them connect with relevant stakeholders/potential partners in India.
  • Design, develop and execute policy advocacy plans for climate, energy and sustainability for USISPF member companies in the United States and India.
  • Organize and lead executive trade missions to India from the United States.
  • Design, organize and lead executive trade missions for climate, energy and sustainability sectors from the United States to India and India to the United States.
  • Design, organize and lead industry interactions for climate, energy and sustainability sectors for Indian State Government delegations to the United States.

    Education/Experience Requirements: A Master’s degree in Energy Policy/Management, Sustainable Energy, or International Business field and 1 year of experience in the job offered or a related energy policy advocacy manager position.

    Special Requirements:

    1. Knowledge of Indian energy markets, including a thorough understanding of the functioning of energy markets, pricing mechanisms, and regulatory frameworks that help formulate effective policy recommendations and advocate for their adoption.

    2.  Communication skills essential for effective policy advocacy, including the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences in a clear and persuasive manner and skills in writing, public speaking, and media engagement.

    3.  Knowledge of energy technologies, including familiarity with energy technologies, such as solar power, wind power, hydroelectric power, and Oil & Gas sector that is useful for advocating policy frameworks to enable growth of various sectors and help identify gaps in the current energy infrastructure and make recommendations for improvements.
