Financial Controller

Greer Companies is searching for an experienced Controller to guide the accounting process and provide accounting expertise for our hospitality and entertainment companies. NorthStar Hospitality, a Greer company, owns and operates multiple hotel concepts and brands including Marriott, Hilton and IHG full and select service properties. Breakout Games escape rooms is a 5-star immersive entertainment concept for friends and families to escape normal life. The controller position will be responsible for the monthly closing process, producing GAAP consolidated financial statements, reviewing, and adjusting systems and processes in place that allow for the timely and accurate collection of financial information and make recommendations to adjust those systems when necessary. In addition, this position will provide analysis for variances in financial performance, development budgets, prepare and update cash forecast, monitor actuals to budget, and provide input for growth and development of NorthStar Hospitality.
Responsibilities Include:
- Perform the monthly closing process for multiple entities on a GAAP basis.
- Prepare budgets and monitor budget to actual, investigate variances.
- Prepare and keep updated cash forecast.
- Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
- Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
- Manage and oversee creation of new entities and necessary tax accounts.
- Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
- Understand and meet the needs of key stakeholders (banks and owners).
- Manage working capital and cash flow to be most efficient.
- Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting or related field required.
- 8 or more years of professional accounting experience (senior level experience preferred)
- Professional certification, such as a CPA (certified public account) or CA (chartered accountant)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
