Arlington, United States AES Corporation Full time

If you're ready to be part of a company that's not just adapting to change, but driving it, AES is the place for you. We're not just building a cleaner, more sustainable future - we're powering it. Apply now and energize your career with a true leader in the global energy transformation.

Demand Forecasting: Develop multi-year (1, 3, 5, 10, 20), multi-scenario, geo-referenced load forecasts supporting system modeling, analysis, and integrated planning efforts using industry leading LoadSEER demand forecasting software. Develop interfaces from LoadSEER to SAP, PSSE, CYME, SCADA/Pi, AMI, and GIS.

Monitoring and Analysis: Design and implement LoadSEER tools to extract asset load data from SCADA/Pi, AMI, known block load additions, and electrical cooperative and municipal load data. Utilize LoadSEER's SCADA scrubber to clean large asset data sets.

Load Research, Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Forecasting, Statistical Analyses: Conduct "bottom up" spatial analysis considering geographical, econometric, demographic, and transportation factors impacting long term load forecasts. Coordinate with Resource Planning "top down" to forecast distributed energy resources, energy efficiency, electric vehicles (EV's) and other appliance adoption rates and their impact on load using consistent data approaches. Utilize this detailed forecast methodology and process to create load forecast and scenarios available to export to PSSE and CYME for electrical engineering teams in modeling and analysis.

Solving Complex Issues: Solve diverse load forecasting problems and complete extensive analysis. Utilize analytical techniques necessary to handle assignments of moderate complexity. (e.g., by dividing the problem into component steps, and performing the analysis necessary to complete each step). Analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes.

Strategy Leader: Lead long-term load forecasting strategy and standard process development. Conduct macro-level and micro-level industry and firm analysis of industry trends and map out strategic short and long-term business plans based on the advanced and long-range forecasting trends derived from insights using AES processes and tools.

Vendor Selection and Management: Manage RFP processes, select third party vendors, negotiate contracts, and manage third party consultants that support load forecasting analysis and research as needed.

External Forecasting Liaison: Lead demand forecasting discussions with external entities like the Ohio PUCO, Indiana IURC, PJM, MISO, and others as needed, for strategic regulatory discussions about the changing load scenarios, impacts to the grid, and possible new business models.

Non-wires Alternatives (NWAs) Analysis: Provide forecasts and models to resolve feasibility of NWAs, participation in the development of NWA sections in siting applications, help implementing NWAs, if appropriate.

People Management: Work closely with transmission and distribution simulation and analysis engineers to develop annual assumptions and network models that coincide with available demand forecast data. Also, recruit and lead co-op and trainee staff members of up to two employees. Responsible for training and building a team of successful co-op's and entry level engineers to support demand forecasting. Serve as a mentor and coach for other engineering and non-technical staff.

Other Responsibilities: Participate in load forecasting industry groups and conferences; remain up to date with the latest load forecasting practice trends and research.
