Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) supports Johns Hopkins’ focus on research, teaching and patient care, and its role as a national and global leader in higher education. We create and foster enduring relationships that result in advocacy and philanthropic support for Johns Hopkins University & Medicine; strengthening the institution through partnerships with donors, alumni, volunteer leaders, faculty, students, staff, and patients.
Johns Hopkins University supports a flexible work model that includes four different work modalities. This role has a hybrid work arrangement with an onsite presence of 3 days per week. The manager will confirm the team’s core onsite days where the majority/all team members will work in the office. Employees who travel on university business can count those days towards their onsite days.
At the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, our mission to lead at the intersection of arts and education inspires artistic excellence and fosters creativity in the next generation of musicians and scholars. Peabody is reimagining the role of the Conservatory for 21st Century Artists, breaking ground in programs for new media, arts and health, and for its commitment to performing arts as a catalyst for sustainable communities. In this newly imagined role, the Sr. Associate Director of Alumni Relations, will create new programs and play a pivotal role in advancing our mission by strengthening connections with our esteemed alumni network and cultivating lifelong support for Peabody.
Major Responsibilities:
Develop and implement strategic initiatives to engage Peabody alumni through events, volunteer opportunities, and relationship-building to foster a sense of community and pride in the institution. Cultivate strong relationships with Peabody alumni, faculty, staff, and current students and the University’s centralized Office of Alumni Relations to enhance alumni involvement and support for Peabody's mission and initiatives. Create and manage sustainable volunteer programs that meet the specific needs of Peabody alumni and build pathways to volunteer leadership programs at the University level, such as the Alumni Council and Leadership Fellows. In partnership with Associate Dean and Peabody senior leaders, develop a journey to philanthropy and engagement for students and recent graduates, to build a pipeline for future support and develop a loyal engaged alumni community. Build strong partnerships and serve as the primary liaison to all Johns Hopkins University Alumni Association activities – including awards, events, and lifelong learning programs - to leverage Peabody’s participation in central activities to meet institutional goals. Produce a series of innovative alumni events such as reunions, concerts, masterclasses, and networking receptions, including graduation receptions, ensuring seamless execution and maximum participation. Partner with Peabody LAUNCHPad and Admissions offices to execute Peabody’s robust mentoring programs, career development opportunities, and student recruitment activities. With the Peabody Office of Marketing and Communications, develop compelling content for alumni communications, including newsletters, email updates, and social media posts, to keep alumni informed and engaged with Peabody news and events. Use the Salesforce-based Johns Hopkins Advancement System (JHAS) database to input data, track activities, analyze and prepare reports on alumni participation and trends. Participate as a staff volunteer at university-wide and other divisional alumni activities such as University Commencement and alumni reunions.
