Job Title: Materials Developer II- HOKA Apparel and Accessories

Reports to: Materials Manager

Location: Portland, OR / Office-Hybrid

The Role

The Material Developer II will be responsible for leading the implementation and ongoing execution of Deckers Global Material and Trim strategy with a focus on HOKA Apparel and Accessories. The individual will work with the brand's Design and Product teams in executing developments for Apparel materials, ensuring selection and creation of materials that are suitable for the desired application, from a quality, cost, and strategic sourcing perspective.

Your Impact

The primary functions of this role, include but are not limited to:

  • 1. Ownership of Material and Trim developments from concept brief through to production ready. In partnership with design teams, global materials teams and suppliers, the team member will guide selection and development of Materials that are suitable for the construction application with concerns to physical property standards and desired aesthetics. The Materials Developer II for Apparel will preferably identify and direct all inquiries that can be fulfilled with commercialized materials in support to sourcing consolidation and production optimization efforts and will also carry entirely new developments for materials that are not readily available, taking these materials all the way through fully commercialized stage while capturing all relevant attributes in flex PLM.
  • 2. Supports the Apparel Materials sourcing strategy by continuously evaluating and optimizing our Apparel Material/Trim palette. Maintains a consolidated but resilient supply chain in order to maximize efficiencies while concurrently balancing supply disruption risks and offering diverse material capabilities.
  • 3. Responsible for physical specification review and approval, testing requests and evaluation, and quality control tool processes.
  • 4. Creates pre-seasonal Materials Library assets, material core boards tailored to the Brand's directive. Organize Apparel Material headers and sample cards in the materials Library for easy access to Product Development, Design and Product teams.

We'd love to hear from people with

  • 5 years of experience in Material and Trim Development, Apparel Material Manufacturing or Sourcing, focus on performance materials preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office desktop applications, inclusive of Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Moderate to intermediate working knowledge of web-based product life cycle management tools, inclusive of workflow, task management, supplier/service provider collaboration and, management reporting.
  • Effective communication skills necessary.
  • Strong analytics, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
