As a Geologist (Engineering Geologist), you will:

Perform geologic site and/or slope reconnaissance studies, which may include desktop geologic and geotechnical file and map reviews, GIS reviews, and on-site reconnaissance and mapping of project site and geologic hazard areas.
Conduct field investigations including overseeing geotechnical drilling, logging borings, geologic mapping, structural mapping, geophysical surveys, and other site investigation tasks to obtain information for the design of: roadway cut and fill slopes; roadway embankments; landslide studies and mitigation; structure foundations; retaining walls; material source investigations; and others.
Interpret field data and material testing results, develop geologic/geotechnical models with strength parameters based on field/lab/instrumentation data, and conduct analyses for soil and rock slope stability and for other geotechnical areas.
Collaborate with Geotechnical Team members and other CFLHD staff in the development of design details and specifications for construction plan, specification, and estimate (PS&E) packages and document methods, findings, and recommendations in geotechnical memos and reports.

The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, team-based environment and has a diverse background in engineering geology topics, such as field reconnaissance/ mapping, geomorphology, geotechnical subsurface investigations, rock and soil properties, geotechnical instrumentation, slope stability analysis, geologic hazards identification/mitigation, foundation conditions, rock excavation, and construction support in context sensitive environments.
