Position Purpose:
Warrior 360 (W360) is a comprehensive student support model and community that supports the success of up to 150 incoming first-year students each academic year through to graduation. In partnership with a team of other professionals, our Persistence & Graduation Coordinator assists in leading our support designs for Junior/Senior students. Additionally, this team member is assigned a group of upperclassmen students and will serve as their College Success Coach. Persistence & Graduation Coordinators will report to the Director of Student Success Initiatives and Academic Partnerships
Essential Functions:
Select, train & supervise a small team of Peer Success Partners who will exclusively support upperclassmen students (3-5 student leaders).
With the Director, Student Success Initiatives – aid in leading the planning and execution of a one-day student success summit for our junior/senior students.
Assist with student informational sessions, recruitment process and orientation.
Coordinate and co-lead W360's class registration student support design.
Work with Career Services to help students establish a routine relationship and become closely connected to their resources.
Participate in unit and/or University committees; serve as liaison between Career Services, Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP), McNair Scholars and schools and other units within the University.
Conduct information sessions and provide program related awareness.
Prepare written and oral reports centered on updates in the work and student success outcomes.
Continuously develop knowledge of best practices, policies and procedures, technological tools, etc. regarding program population needs.
Perform duties centering junior/senior students as outlined with the Dir, Student Success Initiatives and Academic Partnerships.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education, human services or social/behavioral sciences required for an Academic Services Officer I.
A master’s degree in higher education, counseling, student affairs or related field for an Academic Services Officer II.
At least one year of experience (graduate or professional) in student supervision/advising and program leadership experience.
Strong commitment to inclusive and equitable student success.
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with others by phone, email, interpersonally, or in small and large group presentations.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
High degree of proficiency with standard office productivity software, especially MS Office 365.
Must be available to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
Ability to relate well and establish rapport with students, other staff, faculty, parents, and community.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students of varying levels of academic preparedness.
Ability to work with and without supervision and in consultation with experienced colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least two years of experience (graduate or professional) in student affairs and/or related education student services. Knowledge of upperclassmen experience programming, holistic support programs, peer mentor training programs, etc. Ability to communicate across large bodies of prospective and incoming students. Strengths in long-term planning, attention to detail and working with a campus network. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, both in person and virtually. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Master’s degree in education, Counseling, or related field. Three years of experience in student support, student success, development, education, or academic advising. Experience in supporting students through intervention, academic recovery and persistence.
