Job Description

The Enterprise Security Officer II position is a critical role within the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan security team, responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all individuals on our properties. This position requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce corporate policies and procedures at access control points, utilizing the Visitor Card Management System to issue badges as needed.
  • Conduct regular interior and exterior patrols of our properties to prevent property damage, theft, trespassing, and unauthorized entry.
  • Perform scheduled life safety inspections of security technologies and equipment, ensuring they are functioning properly and documenting any deficiencies.
  • Provide escorts to vehicles upon request and perform executive/security driving details as assigned.
  • Ensure all visitors are properly greeted and directed to their destination, and unauthorized persons are not permitted to access the buildings.
  • Check ID badges, boxes, packages, and assist visitors at entrances and exits of the buildings.
  • Respond to, investigate, and write security incident reports regarding crimes, fire or safety incidents, medical emergencies, property loss or damage, and employee or guest misconduct.
  • Manage traffic and parking processes/records and enforce company guidelines/rules for employees and tenants.
  • Manage and perform tasks related to identity, access, and alarm management, visitor management, and other security processes.
  • Conduct scheduled access audits of security-sensitive areas at all enterprise locations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, employees, guests, contractors, and vendors.
  • Maintain knowledge of security-related operations at all enterprise locations.
Command Center
  • Serve as the 24/7 emergency command/dispatch center for the BCBSM enterprise, including subsidiary companies.
  • Monitor, respond, and react to various security scenarios that could impact our people or property.
  • Direct first responders/emergency response to the event, providing real-time updates as needed.
  • Monitor external risk events and initiate the appropriate security response following established security procedures.
  • Operate computerized building safety and security alarm systems, answer customer information requests, and dispatch staff via radio and telephone for building security.
  • Monitor enterprise-wide security systems and networks, including closed-circuit technology.
  • Receive and respond to emergency and non-emergency calls from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaison with Public Safety throughout the state and nationally for enterprise dispatch in an emergent situation.
  • Process and evaluate information received, prioritize calls, and dispatch required units and/or agencies.
  • Maintain status and locations of post officers, monitor and coordinate unit activity and assignments via radio frequencies.
  • Create and distribute mass Emergency Notification System (ENS) messages for emergent situations.
Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent required.
  • One (1) year post-secondary education in criminal justice or related discipline. Associates degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years security-related experience, or one (1) year general business or military with one (1) year general involving public customer service contact and experience in office building security.
  • One (1) year experience as a BCBSM Security Officer I preferred.
  • Working knowledge of safety codes, OSHA, and emergency preparedness preferred.
  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license with no excessive traffic violations.
  • Ability to obtain a chauffeur's license.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
  • Basic knowledge of criminal and civil law.
  • Proficient with computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of various fire safety alarms and devices.
  • Operational knowledge of radio and surveillance systems/devices.
