Job Id: 1184 # of Openings: 1 Lead Designer (Full-Time | Remote in Minnesota, Michigan, or Surrounding Area) As a Lead Designer, you will be the driving force behind design direction, strategy, and execution of end-to-end service experiences. This role will be responsible for leading a team of designers and collaborating with cross-functional teams, guiding design processes, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, human-centered solutions. This role requires a combination of strategic thinking, hands-on design expertise, and leadership skills. Thinking ahead, seeing beyond, and building together Vervint is a purpose-driven, global consultancy that is a digital catalyst, empowering people and organizations to thrive in the experience-driven world. Vervint offers cross-functional expertise and guidance that goes beyond great tech - believing technology, thoughtful strategy, and human creativity lead to real progress and transformation. With a human-focused approach, Vervint provides a roadmap for success inherent in design, empathy, and ingenuity. Our commitment to purposeful progress gives us a unique ability to thrive at the intersection of technology, strategy, and experience to create impactful solutions that are more than simply migrating, integrating, or building tech. With offices in Michigan and Minnesota and employees across the globe, we put people at the heart of everything we do. Our values are part of what makes us different - for our employees, clients, and the communities in which we live and work. At Vervint, our purpose is progress, and we are out to improve lives by keeping humanity at the core of every solution. What You'll Accomplish:
- Remain flexible and adaptable as client and team needs evolve; gracefully unblock when the team encounters adversity.
- Recognize, negotiate, and balance competing business, technical, and user needs.
- Own the breaking down of larger objectives and provide guidance and support to other designers within the engagement team.
- Facilitate effective design reviews; provide clear and direct feedback to support individual development and project delivery while inviting feedback yourself.
- Speak confidently about Vervint's design capabilities and impact on client outcomes.
- Oversee execution of those strategies and provide creative direction for other designers on the team - offering mentorship, coaching, and critique in the work to ensure delivery of high-quality design and research.
- Share ownership and responsibility for overall project and client success.
- Establish and articulate design and research strategies that support our clients' business objectives, honor the end user, and achieve desired outcomes when tasks are ambiguous, sensitive and high-risk, multi-domain, or are not yet fully defined.
- Enthusiastically pursue personal and professional growth opportunities with emphasis on leadership and consulting skills as well as technical skill development.
- Act as a key contributor in the sales process including participation in client meetings, proposals, estimates, and presentations.
- Identify, advise, and help shape new opportunities within existing client engagements.
- Commit to learning about, producing, and coaching others on accessible, inclusive design solutions.
- Partner with design leadership and serve as a trusted thought leader with our clients within the design practice, and across Vervint.
- Create and advise on new processes to increase project team efficiency and effectiveness.
- Foster trust through active listening to consider ideas and proposals brought by individual contributors; be a champion for others' ideas.
- Network and partner with practitioners across Vervint to build strong organizational relationships.
- Model professional behaviors and set a positive, productive tone for the team.
- Serve as a trusted thought leader with our clients, within the XRD practice, and across Vervint.
- Mentor others within the practice by identifying strengths and using coaching and feedback to encourage development of their technical and consulting skills.
- Serve as a trusted partner to our clients by thinking broadly and holistically, guiding them through complexity, setting clear and reasonable expectations, and delivering on commitments including timeline and budget.
- Humility and a strong desire to help others succeed.
- Deep expertise in at least one domain, but the ability to understand and speak to the broader scope of design as a practice
- Expertise in human-centered design methodologies and systems thinking.
- Expertise in software development methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Kanban.
- A portfolio of research, digital product design, or service design work that effectively demonstrates your process and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills; ability to communicate confidently and effectively with people at all levels of the organization
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to quickly move between tasks and areas of focus without losing momentum.
- Comfortable managing priorities for self and others and working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven success navigating conflict and offering (and accepting) constructive feedback.
- Confident decision-making skills and the ability to discern when others need to be consulted.
- Commitment to establishing and following processes that delight our clients, honor our people, and support our business goals.
- Expert ability to facilitate collaboration between teams to meet goals.
- A self-directed working style with a bias toward action and an ownership and accountability mindset.
- Awareness of relevant industry trends and best practices.
- Deep curiosity and the willingness to try, learn, and iterate.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in interaction design, interface design, human computer interaction, human-centered design, fine arts, research, graphic design or UX.
- At least 8-10 years of experience working as a service designer, visual designer, or digital product designer (or similar) in a consulting or agency setting.
