The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience is recruiting a full-time Behavioral Health Specialist to join our team supporting UC Health
’s multispecialty Weight Loss Center.  Our behavioral health team focuses on the psychological assessment and behavioral treatment of patients seeking weight loss treatment, including bariatric surgery, endoscopic interventions, weight loss medications, and lifestyle intervention.  The ideal candidate will also have demonstrated interest and experience in providing evidence-based psychological care in a multidisciplinary weight management team.  The UC Health Weight Loss Center is a fast paced, intellectually stimulating, innovative and environment in which providers and staff provide great support for each other. 

Academic rank, if qualified, will be granted commensurate with experience.

Essential Functions
-100% (1.00 FTE) clinical position. 
-Responsible for all behavioral health programming for UCH Weight Loss Center at West Chester Hospital, UCH Medical Center and in UCH Transplant-Related Interdisciplinary Metabolic Surgery (TRIMS) in the Transplant Division, Department of Surgery.
-Directs development of clinical protocols, monitoring outcomes, supervision of clinical providers, coordination of care with outside mental health providers and ensuring quality of care, patient satisfaction and adherence to requirements of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Center of Excellence requirements.
-Provides psychological assessment, diagnosis, consultation, treatment and related psychological services. to persons with obesity in medical, surgical and transplant programs including:

-pre-surgical psychosocial assessments;
-post-surgical assessment and brief health and behavioral intervention and/or cognitive behavioral therapy in group or individual format as indicated;
-evaluation and brief health and behavioral intervention and/or cognitive behavioral therapy for medical (non-surgical) weight loss patients;
-cognitive behavioral therapy in individual and group format for patients with binge eating disorder or related disordered eating behavior.
-Provides clinical supervision for behavioral health providers in Bariatrics.  
-Supervise (if applicable) the application of psychological procedures and techniques in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating psychological disorders.
-Function as a member of interdisciplinary treatment team. including consultation/attendance at clinical case conference, a twice monthly meeting for interdisciplinary review & treatment planning for all surgical cases in progress. 

Required Education

Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Social Work, Clinical Counseling or related degree.  PhD or PsyD is ideal.

Required Trainings/Certifications

Independently licensed or license eligible in respective discipline in the State of Ohio.

Required Experience
-2-3 years clinical work in obesity/bariatrics in past five years
-Basic knowledge of weight loss medications and surgical procedures including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass and duodenal switch
-Membership in American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and/or The Obesity Medicine Association
-ASMBS Fundamentals in Bariatric Behavioral Health course or attendance at three ASMBS or related courses

-Peer reviewed publications & invited presentations related to obesity/bariatrics
-Demonstrated knowledge of obesity as a disease state and commitment to obesity sensitivity practices
-Demonstrated knowledge of and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
-Good interpersonal skills, team oriented and desire to collaborate in a multidisciplinary setting.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

Office environment / bariatric wheelchairs and furniture/ no other specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
