Job Description
The Instructional Designer II, under general supervision, leads and supports the development of online courses.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years of related experience in instructional design.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of online course design principles and practices.
- Knowledge of Learning Management Systems, authoring tools, and other instructional technologies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to foster trusting internal and external relationships.
- Strong verbal and written communication, as well as public-speaking and presentation skills.
- Adaptable self-starter with the ability to analyze needs and adjust priorities.
- Critical thinker; adept at seeing a big-picture perspective and impactful solutions to problems.
Essential Responsibilities
- Collaborates with instructors and subject matter experts (SMEs) to design and develop online courses.
- Organizes raw text and media from authors into cohesive learning experiences.
- Designs online instructional materials using authoring tools including Articulate 360, Adobe CC, and Camtasia. Leads course review process.
- Makes online materials accessible according to Texas A&M’s Web Accessibility Standards.
- Leads and oversees course design and development projects. Maintains course library for optimal user experience.
- Plans and coordinates materials with course instructor, instructional design team, and multimedia team.
- Leads faculty and/or staff through the design process and makes key recommendations for design.
- Identifies and recommends the use of instructional strategies, technologies, and applications. Researches and reviews emerging instructional design innovations and trends.
Preferred Qualifications
The well-qualified candidate will have experience with agricultural education and concepts, Camtasia, Articulate 360, and current WCAG standards.
