Statement of the Job:
The School of Food and Agriculture at the University of Maine seeks applicants for a full-time, academic-year (9-month), non-tenure-track Lecturer of Human Nutrition position. The candidate will teach and advise in the undergraduate Food Science and Human Nutrition (FSN) program. This is a 100% teaching position. Responsibilities will include teaching and student advising. The position carries an expectation to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the University and the discipline.

We expect the successful candidate to teach several classes. Initial teaching responsibilities could include introductory food and nutrition, world food and culture, applications of nutrition principles, nutrition and metabolism, and medical nutrition therapy. Initial teaching will average 3 courses per semester, with additional mentoring and advising expectations. Future courses and teaching expectations may change based on School needs and faculty expertise. The successful candidate will be expected to advise FSN undergraduate majors and participate in undergraduate recruiting efforts.

The School of Food and Agriculture offers a B.S. degree program in Food Science and Human Nutrition with three concentrations, of which the Human Nutrition and Dietetics option is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) and the Food Science concentration is approved by the Institute of Food Technologists. The program also offers a M.S. degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition and a Ph.D. in Food and Nutrition Sciences. Qualifications:
Required:

MS in Nutrition or a closely related field
Demonstrated ability or potential to teach human nutrition at the undergraduate level
Demonstrated ability to advise and mentor students
Strong written and oral communication skills
Commitment to enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the discipline and institution.
Preferred:

RDN credential strongly preferred
PhD or equivalent
Proficiency in the use of instructional technology or online teaching tools
Record or promise of high professional service and leadership capacity
