Chief Operating Officer, Myers Park Baptist

Myers Park Baptist Church (MPBC) in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a full-time Chief Operating Officer (COO) who will be responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations and business of the church, through the supervision, training, and development of the staff, as well as providing organization, coordination, planning, and support to the Board of Deacons.
The COO will provide strategic leadership, financial oversight, administration, and stewardship of all the church’s resources (human, financial, and facilities), as well as coordination of communication and marketing, and support for the Board of Deacons and lay leaders. The COO will cultivate thriving relationships with congregants, staff, community partners, external stakeholders, donors, and board members. The COO directly supervises the Finance Manager, Facilities Manager, Communications Director, Wellness Center Director, Pre-School Director, as well as other staff positions. The COO works across the clergy-team, collaborating with staff and lay leadership to organize the work of the church and to grow and retain members by fostering a thriving community of belonging and becoming.
MPBC is affiliated with the Alliance of Baptists, has been “open to all” since 1965, and officially became a welcoming and affirming church in 2002. A minimum of a B.A. in business administration or related field is required. An M.B.A., or an M.A. in a comparable field, is preferred. At least five years of experience in full-time executive level administration and/or operations management is required. Salary range is competitive, and benefits include retirement, health care, professional development, and a paid three-month sabbatical with stipend at the completion of every five years of service.
