The Software organization develops software applications, including integration and test on missiles, launchers, radars, naval systems, fire control and other complex systems. The Software org is made up of several Centers located across the country, responsible for all aspects of the software development lifecycle. Raytheon Software Engineering is looking for a Senior Principal Software Engineer - Software Test Lead for a common software development team of over 100 cross-discipline engineers. The team is developing operational flight, Built-In Test (BIT), and Common Munitions Built-in-test and Reprogramming Equipment (CMBRE) software capabilities for multiple Advanced Technology missile programs. The team delivers acceptance tested source code, test scripts, test reports, and test infrastructure digital products to stakeholder programs. Stakeholder programs incorporate the team's source code and test scripts into their builds for integration and test including design verification testing (DVT), and formal qualification testing (FQT).

The successful candidate will plan, coordinate, and lead all aspects of software testing including unit, design verification, regression, and acceptance tests. The successful candidate will take full ownership of all test processes including development of test scripts, software requirement specifications (SRS), test descriptions, test plans, and test event execution to ensure test readiness reviews (TRR), and test review boards (TRB) are executed on schedule to deliver test reports and scripts to stakeholder programs. This will require close collaboration with the software test architect and stakeholder program FQT leads and IPT leads, such as software, algorithm, systems, and systems test. The Software Test Lead will provide technical direction and coordinate teams of cross-discipline engineers to plan, assign, status, and guide Agile tasks. The successful candidate must have the ability to manage time and resources to meet assigned deadlines.

This position is within the Effectors Center of the Software organization, and is an onsite role located in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do
  • Ability to obtain program access
  • Coordinate with Systems to develop, mature, and update requirements
  • Coordinate and lead automation test script development
  • Coordinate and lead development of test plans and test descriptions
  • Coordinate with stakeholder programs and various IPTs for planning acceptance testing
  • Work in an Agile and DevOps development environment, being part of a highly integrated team working closely with systems, integration, and verification teams
  • Work and communicate effectively across disciplines with all levels of program, customer, and technical leads (IPTs, chief engineers, architects)
  • Provide presentations to communicate status to program leadership and the customer
  • Utilizes Git, Microsoft Azure DevOps Server, and a Raytheon test framework
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other STEM related field and 10 years of experience.
  • Experience in creating test scenarios
  • Experience creating Test Description Documents and Test Reports
  • Experience creating presentation packages for TRR/TRB
  • C++, Python, Perl, or shell scripting experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
