Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP), Office of Acquisition, will allow you to utilize your expertise to serve as the Director of the logistics and Sustainment Division, serving as the CBP-wide/agency-wide expert authority and lead for logistics and sustainment. This position starts at a salary of $163,964.00 (GS-15, Step 1) to $191,900.00 (GS-15, Step 10). In this Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals involved in directing a complex enterprise logistics and sustainment program; developing and implementing acquisition logistics and sustainment technical requirements in addition to system life cycle management, planning, programming, budget, accountability, funding, and reassignment of resource requirements; and providing management and oversight of an enterprise-wide system support services portfolio and framework to effectively manage mission technologies, including asset management, depot and supply chain services, and in-service technical management.

Typical Work assignments include: Performing assessments, evaluations, recommendations, and provides viable solutions on unforeseen developments, new phenomena, and/or Logistics, Sustainment, and Readiness challenges facing CBP. Ensures that CBP optimizes its use of multi-disciplinary mission resources to achieve operational effectiveness. Providing best cost by optimizing sustainment Key Performance Measurements and Key Performance Attributes: availability, ownership costs, reliability, and downtime to meet end-user requirements. Coordinating CBP staff and leadership in the development, implementation, and compliance of Logistics and Sustainment policies and processes to establish Component level logistics objectives, goals, priorities, and deadlines in support of the CBP missions implementing new or changed directives, policies, and procedures to maximize the efficiency of logistics and associated acquisition disciplines. Serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on life cycle logistics management, providing leadership, recommendations, oversight, and administration of Independent Logistics Assessments on CBP technology systems/programs in determining life cycle support gaps and levels of maturity throughout various phases of the acquisition life cycle.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Leadership experience overseeing teams engaged in logistics activities. Analyzing data, identifying trends, and making data-driven decisions to improve logistics processes. Strong communication skills to liaise with internal stakeholders, external partners, and suppliers. Developing and implementing logistics-related policies, procedures, and guidelines. Supervisory Probationary Period: You may be required to serve an 18 month probationary period upon appointment.

Leadership Training: All newly appointed GS-15s are required to complete mandatory training. The training will be scheduled by the Office of Training and Development within the first 90 days of appointment. The duration of the training will include 5 weeks of in residence training in Harpers Ferry, WV. Note: This training may be waived if previously completed.
