APP Pediatric Critical Care PICU
3 months ago
locations Primary Childrens at Lehi Primary Childrens Hospital time type Full time posted on Posted Today job requisition id R104885
Job Description:
NP/PA Pediatric Critical Care PICU (Critical Care)
Opportunity for an APP to join our interdisciplinary Pediatric Critical Care team supporting patients in our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The APP will be based at our newly built Primary Children's Miller Family Campus located in Lehi, Utah, with expectation to float some of their time at our Salt Lake City campus.
Our Critical Care APPs care for pediatric patients (newborn to early adulthood) in our pediatric intensive care and cardiovascular intensive care units. As the quaternary care center for pediatric care in the Intermountain West, we see a wide variety of the most severely ill and injured patients, with referrals reaching us often from as far away as Anchorage, Alaska. Our APPs work in a collaborative nature with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, while having opportunity to work at the top of their scope of licensure - participating in formulation of plans of care, conducting procedures such as ECMO, intubations, setting chest tubes, placement of mechanical circulatory support devices, among others.
As we provide care 24/7, this APP will be asked to work a rotating schedule including day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts. During respiratory season, additional shifts may be available to the provider, dependent on patient volumes and department needs.
Due to the acute and intensive nature of the care we provide, candidates must have at least two years of clinical experience in a pediatric ICU setting to be considered for this role.
A comprehensive benefits package, including CME, 401K matching, parental leave, relocation assistance, and more is available. The APP will be paid a base salary commensurate with experience, with opportunity for additional compensation through shift differentials ranging from 10-50% when working evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, or extra shifts.
Job Essentials
Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are accountable for the provision of patient care at the top of licensure, within their scope of practice. Licensed, credentialed and privileged to perform such duties as:
- Maintenance and promotion of health and prevention of disease;
- Assessment, diagnosis, treatment, correction, and consultation;

- Prescription or administration of prescription drugs or devices in accordance with a consultation and referral plan;
- Consultation with other healthcare providers;
- Appropriate and timely documentation of clinical care;
- Continually learning and developing for optimal patient care and outcomes.
Advanced Practice Providers may also participate in research, utilize evidence-based practice to improve quality patient care, protocol development, care process model development, and best practice standards for assigned patient population throughout our organization.
