Job Purpose

The Organizational Development (OD) Senior Specialist will lead complex initiatives across all business lines to inform strategic direction and guidance including, but not limited to, succession planning and performance management. The OD Senior Specialist will be involved in the identification, assessment, development planning, and review of succession candidates. Additionally, the OD Senior Specialist will lead and/or assist in the execution of the performance management system. Design and develop strategically aligned processes by implementing frameworks, methodology, and metrics necessary for effective implementation of OD constructs. The OD Senior Specialist may train, coach, or develop OD Specialists for system continuity. 

Key Accountabilities

Succession Planning:

  • Design and develop a robust succession planning framework and processes.
  • Identify critical roles and potential candidates for succession.
  • Coordinate with divisions to identify key roles and determine the need for successors.
  • Assess skills and experience required for critical positions and highlight risk areas.
  • Monitor the progress of succession programs and provide suggestions for improvement.

Performance Management:

  • Develop and implement performance management systems and processes.
  • Provide guidance and input on performance evaluations and development plans.
  • Design and deliver training programs to enhance performance management skills.
  • Analyze performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Organizational Development:
  • Conduct organizational assessments and design interventions to improve effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement engagement and culture change initiatives.
  • Provide expertise in talent management and development.
  • Collaborate with HR and leadership to align OD initiatives with business goals.

And assigned duties
Assessments:

  • Maintain operational expertise and ensure delivery of services in alignment with strategic direction.
  • Develops and adheres to detailed plan schedules.
  • Oversees administration of assessments and/or data collection and provides technical and customer support to end-users.
  • Prepares customer reports on individuals, teams, business units and enterprise results. 
  • Manages relationships with external vendors. 
  • Manages program changes and overall administration through collaboration with other staff and/or Human Resources Business Partners. 
  • Identify trends, best practices subject matter expertise. Make recommendations for program enhancements. 
  • Monitor, assess, evaluate, and report on metrics of program(s) managed.
  • Manage communications:
  • Design products with the user in mind to implement simple, easy to navigate and impactful processes.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to associates across the region through sound proactive communication and responding to all questions   

Manage vendor relationships:

  • Research vendors for initiatives and make decision on the capability needs.
  • Lead discussions with purchasing on RFPs and contract negotiations to meet business needs that create long term sustainable plans. 
  • Create budget proposals for all expenses with understanding of current and future needs of the organization.
  • Present proposals for budget allocation ensuring justification for additional spend. 
  • Manage ongoing vendor communication, proactively anticipate changes that could impact timelines, and develop countermeasures to meet goals.
     
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 6+ years of practical experience in OD or related field
  • Leading succession planning and performance management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and translate high-level strategic direction. 
  • Capable of developing solutions with minimal oversight that meet business needs. 
  • Proven communication skills that influence and attain approvals on key initiatives. 
  • Ability to seek out key stakeholders, form trusting relationships, and collaborate on solutions.
  • Advanced Skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook software applications. 
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills, including group facilitation, influencing, and persuading others.
  • Ability to organize, manage, and lead multiple projects.
  • Outstanding planning and time management abilities
  • The capacity to maintain sensitive and confidential data and information.
