Position Description

Assists the Electroneurodiagnostic Clinic staff and learns from them how to measure electrical activity of brain waves, using electroencephalograph (EEG) instrument, and conduct evoked potential response tests for use in diagnosis of brain and nervous system disorders.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Supports Service Plus philosophy of TTUHSC and Texas Tech Physicians of Lubbock to include the mission, vision and SPIRIT values.
  • Understands, cooperates with and supports all initiatives of our 5 Key Performance Indicators (KPI): Patient Satisfaction, Quality, Financial Performance, Business Development and People Development.
  • Assists Neruodiagnostic Technician to measure patient's head and other body parts and marks points where electrodes are to be placed.
  • Assists Neruodiagnostic Technician to to attache electrodes to predetermined locations, and verifies functioning of electrodes and recording instrument.
  • Assists Neruodiagnostic Technician to operate recording instruments and supplemental equipment.
  • Assists Neruodiagnostic Technician to perform long term monitoring. Assists Neruodiagnostic Technician to print out hard copy of recording to deliver to physician for review.
  • Assists Neruodiagnostic Technician to clean and maintain neurodiagnostic machines. Documents accordingly in log book.
  • Assists Neruodiagnostic Technician to conduct visual, auditory, and somatosensory evoked potential response tests to measure latency of response to stimuli.
  • Assists Neruodiagnostic Technician to performs EEG, NCV, Neuromuscular ultrasound, and other physiological tests such as electrocardiogram, electrooculogram, autonomic function and ambulatory electroencephalogram.
  • Establishes and maintains positive customer relationships with faculty, residents, students, staff, and other internal and external contacts.
  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Promote, assess, and evaluate the educational needs and requirements specific to your job discipline.


Occasional Duties

  • Is proactive/responsive to any other duties as assigned by superiors.


Required Qualifications

Education: A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience: No previous experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registry: Prepares for American Board of Registration of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists (ABRET) registry with intent to register within two (2) years.
  • Obtains certification within two (2) years of employment.
  • Background in a medical setting.
