The Public Works & Sustainability Department is seeking part-time interns to support the City's engineering or project management operations. The Intern - I position will offer a valuable opportunity to gain experience and insight into municipal government operations. These positions are part-time, up to 19 hours per week. Hours are generally flexible. Multiple positions exist.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled in college and pursuing a degree in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or related field.Strong Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required.Possess, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license.Supplemental Information

The Process

Interview: After a thorough review of applications, those candidates deemed most qualified as reflected in their application will be invited to an interview.

Background Check: A thorough background investigation will be conducted prior to appointment.Candidates may also be required to take and pass a medical examination, including drug screening, to ensure their ability to perform assigned duties.  

Part-time employees are employed "at will" and their services can be discontinued without cause.

Certain City budgets may not include funding for mandated CalPERS employer contributions. A qualified candidate who is a current member of CalPERS may be restricted from temporary/part-time employment.
