Perform state smog inspections and maintain fleet vehicles and equipment.
PAY TRANSPARENCY/COMPENSATION
Pay Range: $22.00 - $29.00
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform state regulated smog inspections and repairsPerform skilled repair and maintenance on a variety of gasoline-powered equipment and vehicles such as replacing bearings, axle seals, brake master cylinders, resurfacing brake drums and rotorsDisassemble components and inspect part for wearRepair, overhaul, replace and rebuild water and fuel pumps, air conditioning components, compressors, radiators, etc.Rewire electrical systemsReplace, realign, and adjust brakes and suspension componentsDiagnose and repair malfunctions to all systemsOverhaul gasoline and diesel enginesTune and perform repairs to diesel enginesRepair and maintain hydraulic systems; routes and replaces lies and checks system for leaksPerform routine vehicle equipment preventative maintenance inspections; checking and replacing fluids, checks lights and other electrical system components, and replaces exhaust system componentsTemporarily covering at another shop in your zone at certain times per year (for sick leaves, holidays, vacations, etc.)Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent requiredVocational/Technical training in automotive repair with 5 years of automotive repair experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilitiesMust have a valid California Driver’s LicenseMust have valid ASE A5 CertificationASE Master Automotive Technician and/or Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician preferredEffective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organizationStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completionProblem solving skills with an analytical thought processAbility to adapt to a rapidly changing environmentMust be able to lift, lower, carry, push or move objects up to 75lbs. Various tasks may require intermittent standing or prolonged sitting, and the ability to walk, reach, kneel, crouch and handle work related supplies and tools.
