Job Summary

The Automotive Technician III will be responsible for performing vehicle maintenance, troubleshooting gasoline and diesel-power equipment, and shop facility maintenance. May travel to various shops and locations across the Los Angeles County area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs advanced automotive repairs, including preventive maintenance, electrical, ignition, fuel injection system, charging, and air conditioning system repairs.
  • Repairs and replaces engines, cylinders, and transmissions for automotive gasoline and diesel-powered equipment.
  • Performs Smog tests and repairs in accordance with California BAR specifications.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs Gasoline, Diesel, Hybrid, and Electric Vehicles (EV) models.
  • Repairs and replaces hydraulic, air system, and emergency lights and siren kits.
  • Performs quick-fixed maintenance, patch-repair, and replaces tires, installs/replace windshield wipers and light bulbs.
  • Jumps-starts, parks, picks up, and delivers County vehicles as needed to any vendor or County facility.
  • Performs on-the-road mobile equipment maintenance to any facility across Los Angeles County as necessary.
  • Picks up and delivers vehicles to County, Centerra Integrated facilities, and any vendors as required.
  • Drives to any of the five shop locations and ensures the safe handling and storage of chemicals and cleaners used in performing daily work duties.
  • Cleans, sweeps, mops, takes trash out of assigned work bays, and shop common areas.
  • Abides by established safety standards to meet local safety policies and uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Reports to various regional locations as required.
Requirements
  • Valid Class C Driver's License
  • 10+ years automotive knowledge required
  • Must be able to maintain a safety-minded approach on all work performed
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
  • Problem-solving skills with an analytical thought process
  • ASE A5 certified or be willing to obtain within three months of employment
  • Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification Commission (EVTCC) or willing to obtain if required
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and work in any of the five shop facilities
  • California Bar Smog License preferred, but not required
  • May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions

Work is typically based in one of five service maintenance facilities, may require occasional on-the-road maintenance repairs. Frequent work outside and in inclement weather conditions is required, including heat, cold, and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by established Company Safety Standards. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 PM, however some extended or weekend hours may also be required.
