The Opportunity:

The University of Central Florida (UCF) is seeking a dynamic Social Media Communications Specialist II to join our team. The specialist will engage with the public through UCF’s official social media platforms, enhance the university's brand, and address public concerns. The role involves creating compelling digital content to foster audience engagement and bolster brand reputation.

Responsibilities:

Possess strong understanding of social media platforms, features, specifications and social management tools, audiences and trends — and an understanding of how to utilize them to build brand perception and affinity through content and engagement.

Experience and competence with adobe creative suite for graphic and video production.

Ability to write compelling, creative and engaging social media copy for multiple social platforms, following brand tone guidelines, and respond to posts and direct messages as the voice of the brand.

Stays up-to-date in real time on current events and trending topics (including pop-culture) and social media trends/memes/new features and platforms, to provide innovative and engaging content ideas as well as monitoring for brand risk.

Contribute ideas to content planning sessions and content calendar updates and possess the ability to execute those ideas.

Communicates in a professional manner and embodies the values of the department and university.

Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal collaborators and coordinate social content with other teams, including scheduling with students, faculty, etc. to plan interviews and content production logistics.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, well organized and possesses time management skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

Proven track record of growing and engaging audiences on social media platforms.

Experience with social media analytics tools and the ability to interpret data to optimize content strategy.

Experience working in higher education or communications.

Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Experience and competence with adobe creative suite for graphic and video production.
