AVP Actuary, Head of Pricing

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Conduct reviews of commercial and/or personal rates for assigned programs.
- Prepare rate proposals and related exhibits.
- Prepare classification level and segmentation analyses.
- Conduct reserve analyses and profit reviews quarterly.
- Communicate with regulatory authorities and management.
- Prepare internal and external communications.
- Assist in maintenance and service of financial models.
- Provide support to Operating Unit leaders and their staffs.
- Keep informed of current industry and actuarial developments.
- Monitor industry trends in frequency/severity and investigate any material differences between external/internal trends.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other related field; 7-10 or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills
- Ability to recommend and/or lead change to improve the profitability of the business.
- Ability to monitor business processes and identify strengths and weaknesses.
- Ability to develop independent analyses to analyze and solve business related problems.
- Attainment of the Associate or Fellow designations in the Casualty Actuarial Society.
- Advanced knowledge of databases, data extraction and insurance terminology.
- Detail oriented with the ability to work in a team environment and be flexible to daily changing needs and job duties.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, along with financial reporting knowledge and experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary to successfully communicate technical work to a non-technical audience.
- Superior attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to define and lead projects.
Computer Skills
- Advanced Excel, Visual Basic, Access, SQL, and Word skills.
