Job Purpose

Assist the Market Planning Manager to ensure that Honda and Acura have the optimal number of dealerships, in optimal locations, and that are competitive in appearance to achieve sales and market share goals. This is a rotational position designed to prepare assistant managers for future leadership roles in the field and corporate office.  
 
Key Accountabilities

  • Completion of Department Market Studies to ensure an effective dealer network
  • Work with vendors (Urban Science and HIS Markit) to prepare exhibits, i.e. dealer locations, competitive dealer locations, identify areas of opportunity and demographics
  • Engage local agencies such as the Transportation Department, Chamber of Commerce and Office of Development
  • Complete in-market drive to assess areas of growth and opportunity, Honda/Acura dealer locations, competitive dealer locations
  • Develop recommendations for the market dealers and the overall market
  • Ensure conclusions are appropriate to the presentation
  • Present Market Study to Auto Sales Executives and market dealers
  • Prepare Network Change Request (NCR) analysis and recommendations for approval by Management
  • Review state statutes to ensure the proposed change is acceptable and if conditions exist to prevent network change
  • Develop a recommendation or denial based on market analysis
  • Review with each member of the NCR hierarchy to gain approval
  • Generate ad hoc reports for National and Zone management
  • Utilize Department Internet tools such as Ni2 or IHS Catalyst to create exhibits
  • Provide an explanation of the key findings of ad-hoc report to the Executives or Zone Management
  • In times of heavy workload, Market Planning is expected to assist in the review of dealer packages including buy/sells, relocations, management changes, additional locations
  • This will also prepare Rotational Assistant Managers for their next potential role as an Assistant Zone Manager, Market Representation 


 
Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • BA/BS with a concentration in business/marketing or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years' experience in a field sales position including experience working in market representation disciplines
  • Experience analyzing various types of market data
  • Experience interacting with differing levels of management
  • Ability to build and build effective relationships with zone and dealer personnel
  • Ability to manage business partner relationships
  • Organizational and efficiency skills
  • Competency using the dealer database management system
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills including experience with AHM dealer database management system
