JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for designing, implementing, and managing compensation programs and strategies within an organization. They analyze market data, evaluate job positions, and make recommendations for salary structures, incentive plans, and performance-based compensation. They ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, provide guidance on compensation policies, and collaborate with HR and senior management to attract and retain top talent through competitive compensation packages. Additionally, they provide expertise on executive compensation and pay equity programs.

Responsible for leading holistic, integrated, forward-looking, and strategic approaches to Compensation programs and plans. Responsible to lead and

facilitates projects and programs as assigned, and functions as a key

enabler to achieving the objectives of the Compensation organization.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Model and build pay structures that support AVANGRID talent acquisition strategy, or that improve the usability/scalability of existing structures to better support changing Company strategies
  • Play a key role in executing the Company's annual compensation cycles
  • Create complex compensation modeling templates and methodology
  • Perform high-level ad-hoc analyses as needed
  • Work collaboratively with HR and business stakeholders on developing and implementing uniform compensation practices (such as policies, procedures and guidelines), and in the design and implementation of compensation programs
  • Use data and relationships with strategic partners within the organization (businesses, finance, operations, compliance, etc.) to make sound, data driven decisions.

1. Subject Matter Expert: This position consults with and advises core leaders and Human Resources on issues pertaining to all areas of compensation management. Handles issues with typically large scope, higher levels of complexity, sensitivity and/or visibility with the organization. Encourages others to take a strategic approach to solving compensation issues as opposed to simply responding to the current situation. Fosters dialogue and serves as a champion for AVANGRID's Compensation philosophy, programs, services, and initiatives.

Serves as a resource to explain compensation policy and systems.

2. Program Administration Leadership: This position will lead or play a key role in the execution of annual Compensation cycle deliverables to include Executive objective setting/monitoring/results, Executive compensation, annual incentive, merit programs, and other bonus programs.

3. Complex Analyses and Modeling: This position will conduct compensation analyses and models that range from incentive accrual models to impact analyses of new, adjusted, or conceptual programs and plans to make sound data-driven decisions.

4. Project/Initiatives Leadership: This position will lead or support Compensation as SME on projects and initiatives including Pay Equity. Works in collaboration with HR leadership and the business to design, develop and implement Compensation programs, processes, and policies. Works to provide innovative solutions to Compensation challenges within AVANGRID.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience Required:

  • Bachelors' Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation preferred

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Demonstrated Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep and broad knowledge of Compensation philosophy, strategy and program development
  • Strategic thinking, effective analysis of data, and the ability to develop plans, programs and metrics based on higher level strategies
  • High level of expertise and technical competence in Compensation and performance management
  • Ability to present recommendations and/or decisions with persuasive clarity and transparency.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders locally and globally
  • Highly developed ability to resolve complex problems and negotiate successful outcomes
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills to apply methods for controls and audit compliance for compensation policies and pay practices
  • Strong knowledge of the regulatory environment for utility companies within United States
  • Demonstrated skills in interpreting data and abstract pertinent information to reach sound conclusions
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the nuances of organizational and individual behaviors that are impactful to compensation strategies, programs and plans
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective communications and presentations
