The Fleet Mechanic receives daily leadership support from the Fleet Manager under the Director of Corporate Operations and is responsible for a variety of fleet management tasks. We place an emphasis on candidates with strong interpersonal and communication skills. As a Fleet Mechanic within our organization, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet of vehicles and equipment. Your expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles will contribute to the reliability and longevity of our fleet. This role requires a strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding safety and regulatory standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Responsible for asset management and maintenance system administration; including process improvement, reporting, and training.
Disassembling and reassembling engines and other components
Determine the status of service needed for various heavy and light construction equipment and preform necessary repairs and maintenance to restore equipment to proper operation
Provide expertise and assessment with parts and components of complex machinery and engines and small tools
Responsible for routine maintenance and repairs
Responsible for inspecting equipment and vehicles
Responsible for asset management and maintenance of company equipment. Must work safely at all times as defined by Charges safety standards and procedures. Inspect components on vehicles/equipment and document adjustments/ repairs needed. Disassembling and reassembling small engines and other components, small tools and pneumatic tooling, generators, etc.
Conduct visual, auditory routine maintenance and repairs, including PM maintenance, lube, perform oil and filter service, and DOT inspections.
Able to troubleshoot heavy equipment mechanics and identify problems provide solutions for necessary repairs. Able to research problems via repair manuals, schematics, OEM’s and service bulletins and other mechanics, as needed.
Use of hand tools and power tools to disassemble, access and reassemble equipment or components, remove and replace broken or worn parts (IE cylinders, brakes, and gaskets); perform tune ups and electrical repairs when necessary.
Drive to remote facilities and job sites to service and maintain vehicles and equipment. Perform offsite errands to pick up parts/supplies when necessary.
Responsible for performing safety inspections of vehicles.
Maintain records of completed work by notes and or computer.
Maintain job area in a clean and safe order and ensure materials are properly stored.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Maintain ethical, professional, and courteous relations with staff and vendors, while performing as a team member with other employees.
Candidates must meet the government deployment requirements
Knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulics, fuel and brake lines
Previous experience in operating and repairing heavy equipment
Ability to build relationships and provide customer service and user support
Knowledge of company products and services
Attention to detail and accuracy
Written and verbal communication skills
Computer skills with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple tasks
Proficient with a variety of hand tools, diagnostic tools, power tools, multi-meters
Prior training and/or maintenance experience
Ability to travel across Charge service territories is required
Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED, 1 year of experience in maintenance and repair
Background in industrial manufacturing, fabrication, commercial maintenance or construction
Preferred areas of experience may be with light or heavy-duty trucks, tractors and off-road equipment
A technical background in the transportation industry with trucks, and/or fleet maintenance will be helpful
Compensation:

$35.00-$45.00 per hour

Physical requirements:

Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds or more
Bending, stooping, kneeling
Ability to sit for extended periods of time
Ability to obtain and maintain a current DOT Medical Card
Ability to safely climb up and on trucks and loads
Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment
Ability to properly secure cargo using chains and load binding devices on equipment
