As a development professional with “X factor,” your experience and charisma will inspire major donors to increase their involvement in a movement that delivers more than $3.34M worth of food into the emergency food system each year and accelerates an end to chronic homelessness in our region. In this role, you’ll develop long-term relationships with a portfolio of high-level donors and prospects by establishing a firm understanding of their passions and commitment to Goodwill Northern Michigan. Strategic in your approach and authentic in your delivery, you’ll develop and implement a major gifts program that’s donor-centered and impact-driven. 

Essential Functions: 

Support the mission and vision of Goodwill Northern Michigan.  Perform work in a safe manner observing all safety policies and procedures.  Perform duties and interact with all team members, clients, donors, and customers in a professional and friendly manner.   Respect the diversity of others including, but not limited to, those with cultural, ethnic, and gender differences, people experiencing homelessness, and persons with visible and non-visible disabilities.  Key Responsibilities: 

Develop, execute, and evaluate strategies and activities to research, identify, cultivate, solicit, recognize, and steward major donor gifts from individuals, families, foundations, and corporations.   Support a large-scale capital campaign in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of campaign gifts.   Work with the Chief Philanthropy Officer and Executive Director to cultivate and create a culture of philanthropy within Goodwill Northern Michigan.  Build and maintain relationships with major donors through one-on-one meetings, events, and donor communications based on donors and their interests, passions, and goals.  Create strategy for personalized campaigns for individual major donors to be carried out in collaboration with philanthropy staff.  Conduct personal interactions with assigned donors and deliver solicitation proposals, presenting funding opportunities aligned with the donor's interests and discussing the impact their contribution could have on the organization's mission.  Prepare, issue, and follow up on donor communications, reports, and correspondence.  Work with the philanthropy team, committees, volunteers, and boards to plan and implement Goodwill’s philanthropic activities and events including grants, annual gifts, and stewardship.  May supervise assigned staff and/or volunteers.  Other duties as assigned.
