As an Exterior Electrician Supervisor (IAD), you will ensure your team maintains and repairs exterior electrical systems and equipment at Washington Dulles International Airport.

Exterior Electrician Supervisor (IAD)

Serves in the Electrical Division of the Airport Maintenance Department at Washington Dulles International Airport.

Supervises the Exterior Electrician Section in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair/ replacement of medium voltage (600v-34.5\69kv) electrical equipment and systems. Ensures all work complies `with FAA regulations; Federal, state, and Authority safety rules and procedures; the National Electric Code; and passes required inspections. Provides oversight to the Exterior Electric Group Supervisor. Performs related functions.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Plans overall work schedules, special projects, and preventative maintenance functions. Reviews shift operation logs (e.g., trouble calls) and determines the need for follow-up.

Reviews work for completeness, feasibility, and practicality, as well as use of accepted trade practices and compliance with orders and instructions.

Supervises responses to trouble calls or troubleshooting unusual problems.

Acts as a primary quality control inspector for all equipment serviced.

Ensures all group work and time performed is accurately captured on work orders and that work orders are promptly closed out upon completion of work.

Coordinates work with others to avoid schedule conflicts or delays.

Maintains inventory, expenditures, and other records in computer files.

Acts as the Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) electrical service and repair contracts.

Conducts job interviews and participates in the selection of candidates for subordinate jobs; evaluates performance of Exterior Electricians and identifies training needs; authorized for Employee Disciplinary Actions.

Provides oversight to the Exterior Electric Group Supervisor.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Seven years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and systems.

Two of the seven years of experience must include installation, test, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment and systems.

Knowledge of supervisory principles and ability to supervise the operations and programs of the unit/team.

Knowledge of and skill in electrical principles and theory and ability to ensure that accepted trade practices and regulatory requirements are met.

Skill in using tools, technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, manufacturer's materials, and other equipment and guides in journey level electrician work.

Knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and procedures needed to lead others in working safely.

Ability to perform detailed analyses of data and information.

Ability to speak and write effectively.

Skill in using a computer, computerized work order and time and attendance system.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Licensed as a Journey Electrician (or higher).

Licensed as a Class B Commercial Driver (CDL).

EDUCATION

A high school diploma or a Certificate of General Educational Development (GED).

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIRED

A state driver's license in good standing.

Licensed as a Class B Commercial Driver (CDL) within 90 days of hire, promotion, or placement in the job.

NECESSARY SPECIAL FACTORS

Operates vehicle airside and landside (requires AOA permit).

Work is typically reviewed in progress and upon completion for quantity, quality, timeliness, teamwork, customer service, and other factors.

Work requires moderate to heavy physical exertion (exerting 20 to 40 pounds of force or lifting objects up to 80 pounds). May bend, stoop, crouch, and work in a cramped position or work at heights of 50 feet operating lift truck, scissor lift, or forklift.

May be subject to potential hazards common to the airport environment and electrician trade. Wears personal protective gear, as necessary.

Is subject to hold-over and recall on a 24-hour basis for essential services and emergencies such as snow removal.
