Position Overview
The Sr. Associate, GC&S Communications will provide support in executing communications plans, managing issues and keeping our finger on the pulse of important issues and trends across areas related to our citizenship & sustainability strategy, with a particular emphasis on sustainability.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* Identify, research and provide recommendations on potential opportunities for leadership engagement / thought leadership on sustainability (e.g. speaking opportunities, conferences and events)
* Regularly update Corp Comms and GIC leaders on issues and trends in the sustainability space to inform communications plans and messaging; support team with competitive monitoring and flagging relevant issues and trends that can shape our GC&S work
* Meet with key partners across sustainability workstreams to assist in information gathering and securing updates to help inform our communications approach.
* Closely collaborate with GC&S Communications Lead to provide external communications support on GC&S topic areas including media list development and maintenance, materials creation, briefing documents, etc.
* Support team in managing sustainability-related issues and crises with research, assistance in developing issues briefs, and drafting leadership updates
* Contribute to corporate web copy updates across GC&S areas.
* Assists in managing RL Press Inbox
* Aid in the development of GC&S award or ranking submissions for corporate or executive-level recognitions.
* Conduct media or topical research as directed by senior communications team members as part of planning process.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
* Bachelor's degree; public relations/communications experience
* Interest in corporate philanthropy
* Exceptional attention to detail.
* Proactive self-starter who goes above and beyond what is asked
* Flexible and agile; willing to learn
* Team player with excellent interpersonal communication skills
* Stellar writing and editing skills - PowerPoint plan development, news releases, fact sheets, talking points, executive briefing documents
* Extensive knowledge of MS Office Suite (PPT, Word, Excel, SharePoint), with ability to quickly learn other applications, as necessary
