The Cost Leader is responsible for the identification, planning, execution and monitoring of supply chain cost reduction initiatives with a specific focus on reducing MBOM cost.
Key Accountabilities1. Coordinates, leads, and facilitates internal and external cross-functional stakeholders in the development, communication, and execution of cost reduction initiatives.
2. Optimizes costs throughout the supply chain by analyzing cost structures and identifying areas for improvement. Implements data-driven solutions to control cost.
3. Ensures the successful execution of cost reduction plans through the development and detailed management of integrated master schedules, risk registers, and cross-function action item lists.
4. Collaborates closely with suppliers to drive down costs and to improve overall supply chain performance. Enhances efficiency and reduces waste.
5. Supports negotiations with suppliers to secure better prices, streamline processes, and ensure the availability of affordable materials.
6. Explores opportunities for bulk purchasing, long-term contracts and strategic partnerships to achieve cost savings.
7. Ensures efficiency and cost-effectiveness by implementing strategies that align with company goals.
8. Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress to cost reduction targets and to adjust company strategies, as needed.
9. Organizes and presents recommendations for cross-functional management review, feedback, and selection.
10. Stays informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to maintain the company’s competitive edge as it relates to cost.
11. Serves as the primary Honda Aircraft cost liaison between the Business Office and internal cross-functional stakeholders.
12. Ensures compliance with procurement guidelines, company policies, and strategic company objectives.
13. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including regulations from the Uniform Commercial Code, FAA, ITAR, Truth in Negotiations Act, False Claims Act, insurance policies, and intellectual property rights.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills1. Bachelor's degree from four-year accredited university required. Degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering, or Business Administration preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience with a demonstrated ability to achieve cost reduction.
3. Previous experience in a directly related procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or project management role within aviation/aerospace manufacturing industry is preferred, but not required.
Key Performance Indicators1. Excellent writing ability with prior experience in presenting information to diverse audiences.
2. Thorough understanding of product development, qualification, and production launch processes.
3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Proficiency in SAP, Teamcenter and should-costing software a plus.
4. Self-motivated nature, able to work effectively without close supervision.
5. Strong leadership skills.
6. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of internal customers.
7. Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with suppliers and all levels of company personnel.
8. Demonstrate strong organizational skills.
9. Ability to apply sound business judgment and strategic guidance to management in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
10. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and simultaneously manage multiple projects.
11. Ability to clearly and concisely present data.
Working Conditions1. Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise, heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
2. Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
3. Ability to work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State and Federal regulations, etc.).
4. Ability to read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
5. Ability to comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
6. Ability to effectively communicate in Business English language.
7. Ability to pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties.
